@Jetpilot86 regardless of the step down transistor you need the LED recognition light that coincides with your ship electrical power. We went through this with Whelen in the design process a couple years ago and aligned the model and part number with the aircraft electrical power. About 90% of the LED recognition lights we sell are the 28V version.

@OSUAV8TERThe info I'm getting from DMax is that IF the step down is there, they'll just bypass it to keep the light at max brightness.  I'll know more in a couple of weeks.  I'm not expecting a huge issue, but I wanted to let you know what they had told me.

There is no maximum brightness, you need the correct voltage applied for the lamp to work. Most 28V Mooneys have the step down transistor there and this has not been a known issue having to bypass to get the 28V LED recognition light to work.

It’s not actually a transformer, it’s a series resistor. It doesn’t need to be bypassed and it won’t affect the brightness. Just buy the correct voltage and it will be fine. Lots of us have done it.
