Got into my Ovation and as usual, my foot hit the factory cup holders, the "marine style" fold down units and I broke one. I figured if I am going to hit it anyway with my foot, why not make one I cannot break. So with some King Starboard and a few power tools, I made a new cup holder. I improved upon the old by making it so the bottles or cans cannot escape the "prongs" and I added a groove so it will also hold my iPad with the help of velcro. Since I have a G1000 I don't need the iPad all the time but have a hard time finding a place to stow it. Now it has a place.

To mount it, I simply matched the holes to the riv-nuts that held the old units and even used the same screws.

Nice!

What kind of seat rail pins are those? Got a part number and/or supplier? Looks like an easier solution than cotter pins.

I would still break that one somehow.    I have a teak one of these (but I got the sextant holder instead of binoculars holder) (Just kidding it has a square space where I keep my notebooks) It just sits in front of the seat.   I don't move my pilots seat so it is all good.

I cut them on flat stock with a 2 3/4 hose saw then relieved the edges with a 1/4 round router bit on both sides. Nice thing about Starboard is it machines beautifully with a router or the correct saw blade.

Let me try again.

Where did you source the bushings for the seat rails?

Larry

I used #6 stainless machine screws with a few extra washers and a nylock nut, that's on an older g model Mooney however.

Had one of those on our Sailboat, neither of my bino’s would fit though
