Voodoodb Posted January 8, 2022 Report Posted January 8, 2022 Hey everyone, got a question concerning seats. Have noticed on the c and e models that some seats have headrest and others don’t. Even the same years. Was this an option on the plane new or are people having them made on seat redos?
N201MKTurbo Posted January 8, 2022 Report Posted January 8, 2022 I think they all had them. They are probably deleted on re-upholstery jobs. The tubes are probably still in there if you cut holes in the fabric. 1
David Lloyd Posted January 8, 2022 Report Posted January 8, 2022 Partially remove the seat back cover and see if the support tubes are in place. If so, the headrest support is fairly easy to make with a couple feet of 1/2" tube and a 6x3x3/16" aluminum. Airtex can provide the appropriate foam block and cover as needed. 2
carusoam Posted January 8, 2022 Report Posted January 8, 2022 The good news… All of the seats have the structure and the holes… Most are hiding under the original seat materials… The center for the holes is a standard for the automotive industry…. There is a thread around here where somebody detailed using Toyota headrests… The search should be able to find more details.. -a-
Bob E Posted January 8, 2022 Report Posted January 8, 2022 (edited) I think my original instructions disappeared but the photos are mostly there and are self-explanatory. Ignore the photo labeled "finished product" - not my photo; no idea what it's doing there. To drill holes in the seat back for the headrest tubes, it's ok to use a long flat wood drill bit; it works fine on the aluminum. If you need more specifics let me know. Bolter Posted January 8, 2022 Report Posted January 8, 2022 For anyone interested in adding headrests, I have 3 headrests from the rear seat of a Toyota pickup. Good shape. Free to any MS'er who will pay shipping or pickup in the Seattle area. 1
