Hello all! I'm in the process of buying a 1963 M20C in upstate South Carolina. I'm looking for someone that can help me with a thorough pre-buy and for a good CFI thats familiar with these old Mooneys to do my transition training. I might be paying a little too much for this old bird but its all set up the way I'd like it. Nice paint, interior, 3 blade McCaully, STec50-2, dual G5's, GTN650 etc. It also happens to be on the field I live on. I'm looking for any advice that I can get. I had a great conversation with Phil from Mooney Flyer and he was a wealth of information. He sent me here to get my feet wet. Thanks in advance everyone!

Get the plane to @AGL Aviation at KMRN, Morganton, NC for the pre-buy.  They are probably the closest Mooney Service Center and have a very solid reputation within the community.

That’s the one, I backed out because it’s a bit high and I was concerned that previous owner was and a&p. The panel makes it extremely attractive but the autopilot needs some work.

I can see the price being a concern.  Unless the owner gives you pause, I wouldn't discount an airplane because its owner is an A&P, as long as they are willing to let a reputable shop due a pre-buy.
