This one was for sale about a year and a half or so, around the same time I had mine for sale. I guess low-ballers forced it out of the market then, I cant imagine it being much different this time around with the economy still in the crapper. Nice one...

I'm assuming it has a zero time engine given the TTAF matches the TSMOH, but that my be incorrect.  In other words, you're looking at an average of 50 hrs per year since new.  I would put a $0 value on the engine unless it's flown a lot in the last 2 years.  On that basis I wouldn't call $129k a bargain.

I'd rather buy this one: http://www.trade-a-plane.com/detail/Single+Engine+Piston/1989/Mooney/M20J+201/1393800.html

More likely the engine & airframe are the same total times. Often what isn't indicated in an ad is the damage history. This has a three blade prop & no indication that there is no damage history so that is something I'd want to check. Simply because there is no NTSB report does not mean that there was not damge in the past.

Kind of tired of the same old damage history thing. If it is repaired I/A/W Mooney maint manual instructions and AC 43-13 then damage does not exist. What does it matter? I guess all the flying P-51's out there should be worthless with their damage history that almost all of them have with this thought process.

I would second the notion for a gear-up somewhere in the plane's history, based on the large, prominent "GUMPS" sign taped in the middle of the left panel. It ain't something you want to do twice.

It's also not relevant if properly repaired. Even All American says there's no penalty if the gear up was ten years ago. My plane had a gear up 4 years' prior to my purchase, for what it's worth, but it was repaired correctly with bonus upgrades, too. All the better for me. New one-piece belly, new strobe, new xponder antenna, new prop & spinner, etc. Everything works like it ought to, and she lands really nicely, too.

VREF has it at $136,400 as configured.  I know, I know Jimmy says VREF is out of whack a lot, and I agree.  I sure wouldnt assign any value to a Lycoming 4 cylinder that has 20 years since new.  Thats 20-30K right there for an overhaul. VREF adds 15K for remaining engine value.  I run my stuff on condition but it is flown often and 50 hours per year is not enough.  Hangar queen.   Plus, what's with that hartzell 3 blade prop. Slower and more expensive to overhaul.  No engine monitor. No second attitude indicator as described.  It sounds like a full retail offer.
