Can anyone save me the trouble of pulling the cowling off to look at the CHT probes for the JPI on my 231. I'm trying to figure out which of Aircraft Spruce's probes will substitute. I know they are the type K thermocouples, but I don't remember what the screw-in connector looks like.

I believe JPI does use type K CHT probes and I also believe they are grounded.  I'm assuming a replacement will need to satisfy both criteria.   The easiest way to determine a type K thermocouple is by simply looking at the wire colors.  Type K in the states is red and yellow.

The JPI site shows this one... 5050T (?)

AS has a price about half off... 5010 (?)

+1 for qualified TC advice from Oregon! :)

I can’t find matching P/Ns on any of them... use caution.

These are both K type, have what looks like the proper well connector and screw connectors on the wire end...

PP thoughts only, not a mechanic...

As easy as replacing a lightbulb...

But... technically you may have to ask your mechanic...

A great project to do with your mechanic’s supervision/signature...

The checklist for my 900 lists EGT as P/N M-111; CHT is bayonet P/N 5050; the gasket type would be P/N M-113. I have the physical probes in a box if you want me to look at something specific.
