Anyone know where I can get a wedge made to tilt a 2 1/4” instrument?  I’m trying to put the T&B in this picture above the pilot yoke. The only way it will work is if I can lift the back of the instrument about 15 degrees (estimated).

Can you loosen all of the mounting screws.  Then remove the lower right one and slip a stack of washers between the instrument and the panel, add or remove washers until the tilt is correct.

My question, is tilting a turn coordinator legal, like in «lift the back of the instrument about 15 degrees (estimated).»

Couldn't that affect the instrument reading, operation or even it's legality?

I was thinking about doing something similar but instead with an aluminum bushing.

I believe I’m putting it back in the stock location which would be vertical. But you are right. Leaning it forward jacks with the gyro angle.

So after investigating this further I’m pretty sure this is the stock t&b, however, someone moved it to the glove box. I’m noticing now that the panel is sagging. The rubber panel isolators are shot. I might be able to put it back if I fix the mounts. Not sure.

I’m back to thinking that I should just bight the bullet and redo this panel now too...uhg, I already have so many things in process.

I’ve also seen it done with a crescent shaped piece of flat aluminum, thick enough at the bottom to impart the correct tilt angle then tapering to a point about half way up on both sides of the instrument.  It’s trapped between the mounting screws and the lip of the instrument.

Let me know if you need the drawings.

changing the shock mounts is no big deal. You may need to drill them out though

Do you have drawings for the pilot side panel?  Mainly need the external dimensions.

If you intend to fly in IMC...

Get rid of the TnB.

Don’t sub it for an old TC either...

Go direct to a second AI.

These instruments are not very good in daylight... and get worse with wear...

Add bumps to the mix and they become unfollowable...

Try it yourself on a bumpy day...

So many better options... save money, but not on that.

Best regards,
