OK  I have been away from flying for a year.  I own an airplane without the new ADS-B addition.  What do I have to do to get the A/C airworthy and are there any variances to the new requirement.  Thanks for the help   John B

The aircraft does not have to have ADSB to be airworthy. Without it, there are restrictions on where you can fly. But you can still fly and it can be airworthy.

I’m going to be unhelpful for a minute here,

This might be the most searchable question in aviation. In fact, if you search this site you will find several threads detailing exactly what is needed and required.
A quick look at you profile shows you were included, involved in, and active in many of them.

for a regulation with a decade for implementation, little has changed in the year you have stopped flying.

There are two ADSB out options that can be added to your standard modern transponder...

Garmin makes one... and there is a convenient one that replaces a nav light...

Or you can spend a lot of money to do it the most right way...

Or you can buy some used equipment to supplement what you have...

Do you have a waas capable GPS already?

What transponder do you have?

Do you like used avionics?

MS has a used avionics guy that can be helpful...

Best regards,
