dcrogers11 Posted November 28, 2019 Report Posted November 28, 2019 I'm looking at online/downloadable IFR courses available to use for study for the written and wondering what those that have used this type tool have had success with. I've got a 6-7 year old Sporty's version that I never felt was detailed enough. It must be have online and downloadable content as I would like to study offline at times. Is King the best or are there others? Thanks, Don Quote
MB65E Posted November 28, 2019 Report Posted November 28, 2019 100% Sheppard Air!! http://www.sheppardair.com/instrument-rating.htm Took my ATP test after studying with them. Passed with a 95%. best training set up out there. -Matt Quote
EricJ Posted November 28, 2019 Report Posted November 28, 2019 I did the Gleim IFR course a couple years ago and it was okay. There were some things I had to research on my own, but overall it got me what I needed to know. Stuff like this is hard to judge, because few people have used more than one. Quote
ilovecornfields Posted November 28, 2019 Report Posted November 28, 2019 (edited) I’ve used the King courses for private, instrument and commercial. I’ve heard Sheppard Air is better at feeding you questions but I actually wanted to learn the material and not just learn how to answer questions to pass a test. I was satisfied with all of my written exam scores. Edited November 28, 2019 by ilovecornfields Quote
elimansour Posted November 28, 2019 Report Posted November 28, 2019 King Schools all the way. They make the material easy to learn, fun and their guided learning system really helps you to get a great score. Quote
KB4 Posted November 28, 2019 Report Posted November 28, 2019 I did the Sporty's Instrument on Ipad. My understanding is that you can update that app for free with all the new updated regs and what not. Quote
eman1200 Posted November 28, 2019 Report Posted November 28, 2019 I’ll put a plug in for Gold Method for being able to pass the test. Quote
carusoam Posted November 29, 2019 Report Posted November 29, 2019 To pass the written is very much understanding how standardized tests are written... Select the cheapest source that has all the questions and answers... Practice, practice, practice... You will find the ones you get wrong, are often questions you didn’t understand completely... didn’t understand, what they are asking... Once you review all the ones you get wrong... you can see how sinister the system is... I used something I found on the internet for free... scored a 98%. As far as learning the systems and flying IFR... I used American Flyers... they also have a ground school and online system that I used a few years later when I really committed to get the IR seriously... Jeppeson has a text book that is like taking a college course and covers the knowledge aspect incredibly well... a great read. Best regards, -a- Quote
