Jack46 Posted March 28, 2019 Report Posted March 28, 2019 Can anyone recommend a source for a 28V voltage regulator for a 1988 J/205? Quote
kortopates Posted March 28, 2019 Report Posted March 28, 2019 Recommended getting it fixed, much for affordable than new.One place that overhauls then is Consolidated in NY: https://mooneyspace.com/topic/26660-28-volt-voltage-regulator/Another that will fix it for about same cost is Don Maxwell. carusoam Posted March 28, 2019 Report Posted March 28, 2019 Jack, Do you happen to have a Mooney part number that goes with your VR? It’s fun and educational and...takes additional effort to follow-up with what MSers write... being in need of being educated again... I went to the Zeftronics site and typed Mooney into the search... It echoed back a 12v and a 24v device... without any verification of what it was proper for... My M20C got a 12v Zeftronics device... a huge step up from the original device... This is the 24V device from today’s search... https://www.zeftronics.com/shop/r25400/ The 24v device is compact... as expected, and very costly too... upon further review... The Mooney part number is listed here, under the specs tab... MOONEY: C611005‐0101 (?) https://www.zeftronics.com/shop/r25400/ Further exploration would be required to match the device to the application... Mooneys have a wide range of Amps being generated for various models and alternators... make sure your VR is mated to the proper output of the alternator and it’s wiring... Or follow Paul’s kind advice above... PP thoughts only, not mechanically inclined... Best regards, -a- Quote

Best regards, -a- That would be really cool if Zeftronics supported the 28V Mooney fleet but I think that's a Cessna part #, plus it's not the CPC connector used by Mooney plus the voltage looks a bit high. Mooney isn't listed on their AML either, just Cessna. But a call to Zeftronics could clear that up if this is good news for Mooneys. It would be nice. They surely have the technology and know how.
