I recall you could do a whole type rating in it for $30k.  May include a vfr limitation as I recall but don’t remember why.

Could the airplane itself be vfr only?  Except what’s the ceiling?

Are those original design engines?

Gents,

let’s not get too excited about authenticity...

The BMW engines seem to have been replaced with a pair of more reliable, modern jets...

2 GE CJ-610 Turbo Jets

Where’s the fun in that?

Sounds pretty scary either way...

Kind of a modern scary house at Halloween, for adults...

go for it!

:)

PP thoughts only, not an aviation historian...

I was wondering - since those original BMW engines must have been the absolute most cutting edge experimental turbo fan engines.  I mean the piston engines of the era had gotten pretty refine by then - I mean who doesn't love a 1650 Merlin?  But a gen-1 jet engine?  The airframe though must have been much more refined by the time they built this thing.

I have a vague memory that those wings were wooden.  Is that right?

No. The original engines never worked; one reason the Germans never made effective use of the plane. Now has CJ engines.

I remember when replicas of the Messerschmitts were built .is this a replica or a reengined original and after the crash of the Collings foundation B17 are they still doing this? I was in Worchester recently and most of their planes had been removed and all had been grounded.Does anybody know where all of the replicas are now ?I believe they were being built by a man named Herb Tischler until some problem (business problem or maybe a death) happened. I believe this was in the early 90'S

I think you're right that that was one of the replicas.
