Spuderman1 Posted June 27, 2018 Report Posted June 27, 2018 So quick background. I'm a new member to the forum and recently purchased my first 67 m20f after upgrading from my c150. In the last 2 weeks of ownership I've been doing some work on the plane trying to get more personal with the aircraft. I've come up to some issues that have me stumped. 1) both wing tip strobes are inop. I've removed the strobe tubes (previous owner upgraded to whelens a610) plugged them into the tail position strobe power supply (hoskins 701295-3a) and both wing tip strobes work in the tail. My pilot side strobe power supply (hoskins 701295-1) puts out 350~volts but doesn't seem to trigger the strobe. The copilot side puts out no voltage and the input voltage is only 11v. My battery is fully charged but the aircraft is not running when I'm doing the test. Just have the battery on a charger. So the part number on the power supply in both wing tips are hoskins 701295-1 and the one in the tail is hoskins 701295-3a. I've noticed some hoskins 701295-3b on eBay is there a difference from the 1 to the 3a or the 3b? Second issue my com1 radio has a blank screen. It's a kx165 I can't seem to find a thread on how to fix it if it is just the gas display or if I should just pull it and do a new mk155 slide in replacement. Quote
Yetti Posted June 27, 2018 Report Posted June 27, 2018 (edited) Second issue my com1 radio has a blank screen. It's a kx165 I can't seem to find a thread on how to fix it if it is just the gas display or if I should just pull it and do a new mk155 slide in replacement. Some people have had success with pulling the display, cleaning the contacts and reassemble. Of course you would have your FCC license to open the radio. If the display is dead, there are no replacement parts in the wild or from the manufacture. https://www.avweb.com/avwebflash/news/BendixKing-KX155165-Radio-Obsolete-Display-Creates-Refurb-Program-226685-1.html I don't think the program still exists Here is a Heathkit solution. https://www.theheathkitshop.com/page3/index.html Edited June 27, 2018 by Yetti Quote
