74657 Posted December 31, 2010 Report Posted December 31, 2010 My buddy and I were flying my Mooney and the low vacuum light turned on. We clicked the electric backup system on and it went off. We have noticed however that the gauge in the cockpit is only reading 3" with the engine driven pump AND the electric backup. I have checked for loose hoses and everthing seems tight. There is a housing that looks like a filter body at the top/center of the firewall that is hidden by an assload of wires. I will call my mechanic next week but for the time being is there anything I can check? Is there a way to adjust the vacuum level of the system? So far I have not ruled out that the gauge is giving me false readings, but after the warning light tripped there may be something else going on. Quote
74657 Posted January 3, 2011 Author Report Posted January 3, 2011 Fixed it. It was a cracked hose that ran from the vac. gauge to the filter/regulator. After it was fixed the vac. showed ~ 4". Turned it up to ~4.5". Quote
