kommers Posted March 25, 2016 Report Posted March 25, 2016 We are trying to replace left strobe that stopped functioning, but my mechanic is having difficulties locating it. By his words no one makes them or repairs them. Any thoughts or ideas? thank you Quote
jetdriven Posted March 25, 2016 Report Posted March 25, 2016 swap in a whelen unit. repin two wires in the strobe connector. Quote
bradp Posted March 25, 2016 Report Posted March 25, 2016 Tube or power supply? If power supply... It should be a Hoskins brand as OEM (even though the IPC says mine should be a whelen A490T14 I know the original was a Hoskins. .. Which are incredibly difficult to find working. Option 1) a whelen power supply will fit in the inspection plate where the Hoskins was but has a different screw hole pattern that requires a doubler plate be fashioned as a mount. This is what I did. Didn't require a 337. Counted as minor. The power supply runs between .2-.3 AMU. I'll look up the model number if you need. I think Don Maxwell has provided some guidance on the topic in the past Option 2) replace with LED. Long term this is probably a better option. Strobe tubes aren't too cheap ether. If it was just the incandescent the CB in me would cringe, but the LEDs provide additional benefits for the collision avoidance part of the assembly. Quote

I have the curved wigtips with enclosed lights and have my original strobes since installing the Orion 650E. If you send me a photo I'll see if it's what I have. If same one and if it'll help you out you're welcome to it. Quote
