Oldguy Posted March 6, 2016 Report Posted March 6, 2016 One of my Christmas presents was an upgrade to my JPI EDM 800. After having a bit of a mix up on the cables, everything arrived and took about an hour to install. Finally got out this weekend for a brunch run to Destin with the wife. Here are a couple of pics of the new unit in the panel and some shots of the horrible weather we flew through. Alabama IMC. (Hank knows....) Quote

They have a way of turning a beautiful day in to a near IMC one. I noticed that your chart is upside down on your iPad. Do you have it set to display north up? The charts in my foreflight are always top up, makes them easer for me to read. Edited March 7, 2016 by kpaul 1 Quote

My poor brain could not wrap itself around the screen showing me heading in the a different direction than the plane was going. Adding that to the wind correction angle, track vs. heading and true IMC clag, and it just made life easier. Besides, after working with attorneys and contracts for so long, reading upside down is not a problem. Plus, any approach plates I pull up are right side up. We saw some of the burns going. Fortunately (?), there was a pretty stiff wind keeping it from getting very high. That wind is also the reason for the 174 kts. southbound versus 139 kts. heading north. Quote
