Does Garmin or Aspen guarantee a serviceable lifetime? That is a lot of money to spend every ten to fifteen years. my steam gauges were designed in the fifties and are still serviceable. Expand I don't think that's a crazy thought at all. There are still plenty of bizjets out there using 20 to 25 year old Collins and Honeywell glass that is still very serviceable and with no end in sight. Quote

Imagine 8 years from now, the nav radio on your Garmin 750 quits. What are you going to do? --You can't just replace the nav radio. Your in for the whole enchilada. Expand I'm going to pull it out and send it in for repair just as I would have to do regardless. Old or new redundancy is important. Panel space, useful load and safety come to mind with the all in one boxes. Graphically displayed terrain, airways, intersection and traffic! Who would want all that instead of the old dependable Narco or KX? I have not had any problems with my GTN's, I have sent 1 of my previous GNS's in and the thing came back from Garmin looking like they reconditioned the entire unit for what seemed reasonable in aviation terms. I have sent in previous KX units and they came back looking just like I sent them in with blistered number display and rubbed off finish at a similar cost to the Garmin. 1 Quote
