xrs135 Posted November 20, 2015 Report Posted November 20, 2015 http://www.aircraftspruce.com/catalog/inpages/rca2600-3.php#review_tab This is probably a silly question... but I plan on replacing my old vacuum AI with a new RC Allen electric AI sometime in the near future. When I look at it on Spruce there are 3 options for tilt. I don't know anything about tilt, and just want to make sure I order the correct one when I do. I have a stock shotgun panel in my 1968 M20C... do I need to order this with tilt or not? Also, 3" is the correct size for replacing a standard attitude indicator, right? I noticed they have both 2" and 3". Quote
N201MKTurbo Posted November 20, 2015 Report Posted November 20, 2015 Yes, your 68 C has tilt. look on your existing instrument to see what the tilt is or get a tilt gauge and measure the tilt of the panel and the tilt of the plane to get the tilt of the panel. Quote
DonMuncy Posted November 20, 2015 Report Posted November 20, 2015 Is this tilt measured when properly leveled on the ground, or in flight. Quote
N201MKTurbo Posted November 20, 2015 Report Posted November 20, 2015 Either one should be good. It will be the pitch angle where the horizon card aligns with fixed outer horizon. You can still set the horizon bar. Quote
Jerry 5TJ Posted November 22, 2015 Report Posted November 22, 2015 My C with original "bent" style pilot's panel measures 0 degree on the upper part. That's measured in level flight. The lower half and the entire copilot side are inclined 14 degrees. You do need to specify the proper panel tilt for the AI to erect showing level. Quote
