slowflyin Posted September 1, 2015 Report Posted September 1, 2015 Good Morning, Can't seem to find a specific answer using search so here goes. I have small, persistent leaks (seeps) from the elbows coming out of the rocker boxes to the drain lines. Seems to be coming from the threads going into the jugs. Is there specific sealant I can use during reassembly? Also, the rubber that connects the lines under the jugs- is it a standard hose? Thought I'd replace it while I had things apart. Quote
N201MKTurbo Posted September 1, 2015 Report Posted September 1, 2015 The hoses are a standard hose, but the real hoses are not very expensive. I would use fuel seal for the fittings. Quote
Yetti Posted September 1, 2015 Report Posted September 1, 2015 me too. They seem to be from the flared fitting. If it was from the threaded into the cylinder part of the elbow, I would probably try permetex #2 Quote
jetdriven Posted September 1, 2015 Report Posted September 1, 2015 Those leak from the NPT threads in the head, and drip off the elbow. A leaky valve cover gasket can look like that too. At the shop we use Permatex Aviation sealer #3. Indian head, AFAIK is the same thing, and I have used it. Both are from auto parts stores or Amazon. Just avoid Teflon tape, it can get loose and clog a bearing, with bad outcomes. Quote
Yetti Posted September 2, 2015 Report Posted September 2, 2015 good information. Have to give that a try Quote
Guest Posted September 2, 2015 Report Posted September 2, 2015 Seal lube thread sealant or Loctite 569 hydraulic thread sealant work great as well. Clarence Quote
