DaveL Posted April 17, 2015 Report Posted April 17, 2015 Sold the plane to the guy who runs the airstrip I was based at. It was sad, but a relief too to be out from under the debt burden and continuing costs. I'll be back! Dave Quote
MB65E Posted April 17, 2015 Report Posted April 17, 2015 Dave that entire E airframe on Barnstormers is still for sale here in SoCal for 8k. I hate to see either one go to waist. Good luck! -Matt 1 Quote
rbridges Posted April 17, 2015 Report Posted April 17, 2015 Ditto Matt's post. Sorry to hear about what happened. Quote
DaveL Posted April 17, 2015 Author Report Posted April 17, 2015 Thanks guys, I just have to get out from under the loan payments and insurance payments on something I can't use and won't be able to for quite some time. If the dang thing was paid off it wouldn't be so bad - I could consider swapping the engine into another airframe. Dave Quote
BigTex Posted April 18, 2015 Report Posted April 18, 2015 Dave, I'd not give up that easy. I just saw your post on Barnstormers and it looks like you've got yourself a really nice C. I know the news is pretty depressing but before I throw in the towel, I'd get some estimates on what it would cost to repair. I'd also shop around and see if you can find a set of wings from a parted on plane. I bet you could spend upwards of $20K on repairs and still be money ahead with that plane. Quote
Jerry Pressley Posted April 22, 2015 Report Posted April 22, 2015 have a good wing dave if you want to make an offer. it is in Oklahoma city but could be transported or you can ferry yours to Oklahoma and the man will change it. If interested let me know which way and I will get a figure from him jerry pressley 423 231 3491 Quote
Jerry Pressley Posted April 28, 2015 Report Posted April 28, 2015 owner of the wing in Oklahoma said they will change yours out for 7500/ FIFO or he has a factory new wing for 40,000 Quote
Guest Posted April 28, 2015 Report Posted April 28, 2015 I'll throw in a hundred dollars for the replacement wing. $7400 to go come guys open your wallets we can get Dave's plane in the air. Clarence Quote
Marauder Posted April 29, 2015 Report Posted April 29, 2015 I got another $100 Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Quote
bonal Posted April 29, 2015 Report Posted April 29, 2015 I suggested this on his original thread. I'm in for a C as well. A C for a C. I think if we can help get this bird back in the air it will be the best thing MS can be all about Quote
Heybluez Posted April 29, 2015 Report Posted April 29, 2015 I'll go in for $100. BTW, I am currently looking at a M20J to buy -- going through financing right now. SO, I know the effort and the sacrifice.. so hopefully we can get your plane back. Good luck! ~MJP Quote
rbridges Posted April 29, 2015 Report Posted April 29, 2015 what the heck, I'll do a $100 if everyone else is doing it. Quote
Wakeup Posted April 29, 2015 Report Posted April 29, 2015 I can do a $100. I love the idea of getting this plane back in the air. We need him to give us a paypal account so we can send money. Thanks Troy Quote
MB65E Posted April 29, 2015 Report Posted April 29, 2015 I'd offer a weekends worth of on site expertise IF the new wing shows up. I'm serious! Let me know Dave, love to help. -Matt Quote
Rhumbline Posted April 29, 2015 Report Posted April 29, 2015 I'm in. Name and address of the shop to send the contribution to... Quote
flyntgr1 Posted April 29, 2015 Report Posted April 29, 2015 If he's willing to do this, I would suggest setting up one of those Go Fund It accounts that are all the rage right now. Quote
gsxrpilot Posted April 29, 2015 Report Posted April 29, 2015 Someone needs to be keeping track of this... we're gonna collectively own a wing soon. I guess Dave ought to check back in and let us know if this will get it done. Quote

22 others Posted April 30, 2015 Report Posted April 30, 2015 Clarence has been good to me. If he says to pay up... $100 from me. You're at $6500. Quote
DaveL Posted May 1, 2015 Author Report Posted May 1, 2015 Ok, I'm officially beyond words. You all are amazing and generous beyond measure! While I appreciate all of this immensely I don't think any FSDO in their right mind will give a ferry permit for this thing to get to the next airstrip over much less to OK! signed, amazed and thankful for folks like you, Dave Quote
Guest Posted May 1, 2015 Report Posted May 1, 2015 I've contacted a company who delivers Vans kits all over the US. He has a large enough trailer to handle a wing. I've asked hIm about it. It may well be easier to move the wing than the plane. Clarence Quote
Marauder Posted May 1, 2015 Report Posted May 1, 2015 Let us know what you want to do Dave. We're here for you. 1 Quote
