I am getting tired of looking for the "right" 201J and hoping to get a little help.  Mooneyland.com indicates that it will assist with a search and does not charge a fee.  Anyone used them to find a plane?

... or if your would rather look West, Lake Aero has about six listed on his website and Paul is VERY well respected.

It can take a couple of years.  I just bought a plane in May, so I'm pretty up on the market.  If you want to shoot me the specs of what you're looking for (and price range), I'll look around, for free obviously.  Be advised, it took me two and a half years.  You'll kiss a lot of frogs.  Then, just when you're ready to give up...

All the other suggestions are worth following up on.  You'll have to come at it from every direction.

Be very carefull and don't send any money to brokers.  You risk losing it and not getting a plane.  I think you should find it yourself. There is nothing you can't do that a broker can do.  You don't need a used car salesman to find you a car right?  You need patience and diligence.  Ask MSCs. They see a lot of Mooneys and generally know what may be for sale.

It does not hurt to talk to Richard. You tell him, or give him a wish list, and let him run with it. If he does nothing, so what? You don't stop looking just because he is. Yes he is a salesman but I say again, so what. He might fall into a deal because he is in the business, and give you a call. If you are any the business man, you can handle the/his process. My humble opinion.

Can you tell us what kind of J model you are looking for? I bet a lot of folks on this board have the inside line on excellent aircraft for sale. No need to pay a broker, you have MooneySpace!

I worked through Richard to get a "C" model about a year ago. He steered me away from a plane which had a lot of issues I was looking at and saved me a bundle. Eventually he found me a "C" at a very good price. I have yet to see a "C" as well equiped and in as good a repair as the one I bought for the amount I bought it for.

I have had a very good experience with Richard and felt that it was a good deal. In addtion, he has saved me a few grand on upgrades I bought through him since then.

In all ... a pretty good deal.

Although I have not landed a deal through Richard I can tell you that he knows a lot about mooneys. Yes, he is a salesman and very passionate about his work. I think it doesnt hurt you to get his help to find your bird. I met him a year ago and he is very helpful even if your search is not easy...
