Marauder Posted September 27, 2014 Report Posted September 27, 2014 Does anyone have a favorite company/kit? Is one better then the other? Jim I use WearCheck for the past 24 years and they have been fine. The oil analysis follows ASTM methods so the results should be the same regardless of who you use. http://www.aircraftspruce.com/catalog/eppages/metalcheck.php?clickkey=4932 Quote
The-sky-captain Posted September 27, 2014 Report Posted September 27, 2014 Blackstone gives it to you in plain English with a personalized paragraph or so of what is going on with your engine. I like that aspect of their service. Quote
MooneyBob Posted September 27, 2014 Report Posted September 27, 2014 I use Blackstone. Quick turnaround. But I just got an idea to send it to both and see how the results will compare. Quote

bnicolette Posted September 27, 2014 Report Posted September 27, 2014 +1 for Blackstone. I used to use AvLab but I like the Blackstone reports better and as said above, they give personalized commentary on what they are seeing. Quote
Marauder Posted September 27, 2014 Report Posted September 27, 2014 Does this one give you a plain language summary of what is going on? Jim They have a commentary section which they use to give their opinion on what they see. Their website also has a definition of the common elements found and what they mean. I use mine for a trend. If a metal goes up unexpectedly or is trending up, I watch it and look for the common suspects for the origin of the material. Quote
