Johnnybgoode Posted August 30, 2014 Report Posted August 30, 2014 First time post with an unusual question perhaps someone at their hangar can answer. Trying to fit an RV-4 and a M20-C in my hangar and need to know the dimension from the leading edge of the Mooney to the spinner tip. Alternately, if anyone knows a spot on the web where more dimensions than wingspan and length live I'd like a reference to that. On the road doing some planning so thanks. Patrick Quote
carusoam Posted August 30, 2014 Report Posted August 30, 2014 From the maintenance manual of the C... There are only a few measurements given for the C. Tail width. 11' 9" Wing span 35' 3" Wheel track 9' 3/4" Prop dia 6' 2" Prop clearance 9 3/4" Tail height 8' 4 1/2" Expanding on this knowledge... Using a metric ruler on the 1962- 64 C's drawing... the prop diameter =23mm Spinner tip to leading edge =22mm Roughly, I would say spinner tip to leading edge is about the height of a tall human being... Hope this helps, -a- Quote

Patrick I was able to fit my RV4 and my E model together into a 32/40 hangar. RV nosed in straight, E model backed in straight in, trim in the full nose up position, the tail ends up over the RV wing. Clarence Quote
bonal Posted April 10, 2015 Report Posted April 10, 2015 Nice fit, now there is a real advantage of a short body Mooney. Quote
Guest Posted April 10, 2015 Report Posted April 10, 2015 I see that the fun airplane is at the front! Mine has be down since the fall, can't wait to get it back in the air. Clarence Quote
ArtVandelay Posted April 10, 2015 Report Posted April 10, 2015 It worked... That hangar is huge, I barely fit in mine, maybe a little more a foot clearance for the wings Quote
Johnnybgoode Posted April 11, 2015 Author Report Posted April 11, 2015 That hangar is huge, I barely fit in mine, maybe a little more a foot clearance for the wings It's a nice size - it looked quite bare in there with only the RV! Hardly justification in itself for purchasing a hangar-mate but the price on the Mooney was right and it was lots of plane for the money - so I think... Now I have to teach my wife to fly one or the other and we (and the 4 kids) can do family outings! Quote
