Kind of answers the question about the use of unpaved fields, doesn't it?

Thanks for sharing,

It does, but I also watched how much flex that nose wheel was doing. Wonder if that is the same on asphalt.

Nice video, congratulations. Looking forward to seeing more videos from SA. it seems that the conditions are similar to the ones I am facing in Guatemala. Regarding landings on unpaved runways, you just have to be careful and try to keep the nose off as long as possible. Not always easy as you can see from my videos. I have to say that until now I did not feel that such a big difference between paved and unpaved runways. Mooneys seem to be good on both. Of course, I would try to avoid really rough fields with potholes.

Chris,

There are both asphalt and grass operations in the clip.

It seems the grass flexes more, but the asphalt flexes quite a bit as well.

Those donuts really get a workout.

I've never seen this aspect before. So I was interested in the experience.

Where I really got confused, the nose wheel disappeared while I was focused elsewhere...but a bare leg was still there, as if the wheel fell off!

Upon review, the exhaust pipe is much longer than I expected.

Still, there is so much to know about Mooney Aviation!

Best regards,

Thanks for your responses.

As far as the grass runway is concerned you might be interested to note that the Mooney agent for Africa is based on a grass strip (not far from here in fact) and the strip there is terrible. Naturally they have a tonne of info regarding soft field ops with Mooney's. One of the best pieces of advice they have to give is to lower your tyre pressures, to something like 30psi. This takes a lot of the vibration and impact away from the air frame and fuel tanks. You can really feel the difference when the tyres are softer. You must just remember to inflate them before going back to an asphalt strip with a heavy load.
