BigTex Posted January 16, 2014 Report Posted January 16, 2014 Mooney has a new Service Instruction out regarding inspection of the gear. Also has recommendations on time between shock disk replacements. Here's the link: http://www.mooney.com/images/pdfs/si-pdf/m20_122.pdf
Mooneymite Posted January 16, 2014 Report Posted January 16, 2014 Summary: Ya'll be careful and buy Mooney parts! 1
SkyPilot Posted January 17, 2014 Report Posted January 17, 2014 At least they are opening up again. It does give a guy another option for parts.
Guest Posted January 17, 2014 Report Posted January 17, 2014 Seems strange to have to tell people that they have to maintain their airplanes. I guess if given the choice between ripping someone off doing maintenance, I'd have to do the gear before the fuel cap "O" rings. Clarence
Alan Fox Posted January 17, 2014 Report Posted January 17, 2014 Just so you all know , a common failure of the gear is it rusts between the pucks and the stack tubes , If your plane still has the goodyear pucks and stack tubes , your mechanic is doing you a dis service , no matter what they measure , They haven't made the goodyear pucks since the 70s....... 1
triple8s Posted January 17, 2014 Report Posted January 17, 2014 Let's face it in this day and age a company has to protect it self. Look at a cup of coffee, caution contents hot, really? The bulletin is only saying if you don't buy our parts we cannot guarantee the out come, and as anyone ought to be able to understand, how could Mooney guarantee a particular level of service when parts of unknown quality or specification are used. Ultimately it is still up to the end user, for now that is.
Alan Fox Posted January 17, 2014 Report Posted January 17, 2014 Actually its up to the guy signing the logbook , its also his ass....
tony Posted January 17, 2014 Report Posted January 17, 2014 Sounds like mom, reminding me to zipper up my coat because its cold outside...... Mr. Ellis, really?
Sabremech Posted May 1, 2014 Report Posted May 1, 2014 I had the opportunity to talk with a person in the know at the MAPA convention about the change in the jacking procedure for the older Mooney's. I learned that there is concern about the hardware used in the tail tie down (on the aircraft). This isn't in Mooney's SI nor do I expect it to be changed or updated to reflect this information. I'm satisfied with the explanation and would jack my airplane by using a tail tie down after inspecting the hardware. David
carusoam Posted May 1, 2014 Report Posted May 1, 2014 Especially if the tail tie down got reshaped in it's lifetime... Many have been pulled or ground accidentally.... -a-
