Not to be a devils advocate but I have learned not to equate a pilots skills to their total time. Complacency is the real culprit here.

No different than a 3000 hour Mooney pilot who lands gear up...

At night and differing runway light configurations at times it is impossible to distinguish a short narrow runway from a long wide one.

I don't worry about the wrong airports. I just worry about the wrong runways.

I don't often land at airports with more than one (OK, two--the same one in both directions).
