Super hard to find...

Some clown on barnstormers.com is trying to sell an Acclaim "project" but there isn't an un-damaged part of the airframe and the wings were even cut off during the recovery.  You might try contacting him and offering to buy the seats after he gets tired of sitting on the carcass.

Thanks for the tip. I gave them a shout but am not expecting any miracles.

The Mooney factory can build you articulating seats. I had a copilot seat made last year, and the workmanship was outstanding. They are pricy, but I tried to find a used one for quite a while with no luck .

After riding in too many piss poor, low, uncomfortable, older J, C, E, F and K right seats..... Whatever the cost, it's worth it!!!

Dave Matheson of Airmods Robbonsville NJ has a set for sale....

He wants $6k for the front and back. While they appear to be in good condition, they are fabric and the back seat is a bench, not split.

Even with nice cushy foam. The "J" seats suck...$400 to replace the backseat adjustment cams.....but I'm not about to go spend 10k om seats for a 70-90k airplane.

Early J seats are a dream compared to the aluminum seat pans and chutes that are installed in those Stearmans you have been lusting after, G.

Just sayin'. ;)

Jim

And those buckets were certainly are more comfortable than the wicker baskets we used in those old Jennys. :)

Yeah, but the Great Lakes is oh so cushy :)

There is a nice article in one of the recent Flying magazines on the new production Great Lakes....

Aerobatics were a lot easier in the Pitts. Landings, though, not so much!

Jim

I do recall you telling me about that. If you still have that Flying article please save it for me.

Yep, the Pitts is for guys under 40 like Dave Martin, the Great Lakes for us more seasoned pilots. Easy to land, gentle aerobatics and no darn zig zagging to see where to taxi.

No wimpy, timid or whiney pilots for these two planes.
