  2. I am looking for an IFR GPS package that somebody has for sale that upgraded. I don't know if I am in dreamland...but would like to buy a kln 89b or a garmin 155 xl with tray, wiring harness , indicator, antenna and annunciator. Also do I need an annunciator if I use the indicator only for the unit. I am not sure if I fully understand what the annunciator does ( switch?)so if someone could explain I would appreciate it. Any comments would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

  4. That is exactly what happened to us. Our mooney was in a cold hanger for 3 weeks before we could pick it up after a paint job in December . When we took off I raised the gear and the alarm went off. As Marauder said it was the rubber donuts that were cold and still kind of squished. Squat switch was doing what it was designed to do thinking it was still on the ground. Thankfully it was blowing like crazy and we had a bumpy ride out which help expand the donuts. Freaked me out and I was going to land. Had the squat switched checked and don maxwell confirmed how common this was.
  5. I think 6k is a little high, the price seems in the game. I like his panel. The original paint may be iffy. Go see it, I find that high res cameras make thing look better than they are.
  6. I took two lessons, bought a piper tomahawk...yes piper tomahawk and learned to fly. I too enjoyed the machine aspect of aviation. I think understanding the machine was very useful in learning how to fly. I owned the tomahawk for 1 year and sold it for more than I paid for it in 2 days. I found the transition from the low wing tomahawk to the mooney was pretty easy. As to what to learn on, I think finding the right instructor will dictate the plane you will learn on. If my wife ever wants to learn to fly she will learn on our mooney as that is the plane we own.
  7. There is nothing like buying your own mooney! My wife and I bought ours in Seattle and had it flown to Wisconsin. I found a great instructor and now have over 100 hours in our m20e. Longest flight was to Tulsa Ok. We make little improvements all the time. It is great fun. I often just go to the airport to look at the plane. It will give you great pleasure. Congrats!
  8. Can you tell me where and what type of cable you used to connect your Sony to a headset jack. Thanks
  9. There is 530W on Ebay that the owner is willing to sell for $3000. They will send you a bill outside of Ebay that looks like an ebay bill that wants you to buy a Re load it card and send him the numbers. Any transaction outside of Ebay is not covered under Ebay Buyer Protection.I reported this to ebay and they concurred it was a scam. Remember if it sounds to good to be true, it probably is. It looks like this: Garmin GNS-530W WAAS Unit | Add to watch list Seller information rob.walker0676 (0 ) Follow this seller See other items AdChoice Item condition: Used If you want to buy it now for the priceof $3000 with shipping and handling included please contact me at rw0676@gmail.com All buyers must contact me before placing a bid. All bids made without contacting me will be canceled.
  10. James, We changed the tubing because the drain valve was out and the tubing to the pitot looked old. We were looking for a leak in the system that was giving me a altitude error of 200 feet at 7000 msl. The problem was a bad o ring at the drain valve. We also replace the o ring in the back as well. Hope this helps. Kevin
  11. As I recall we drilled out the rivets, removed the inside cockpit pilot side panel and slid it into the cockpit. Mine needed a new o ring. We then held it into position from inside( you reach into the wing) and riveted it in place. Hopes this helps, really not a big deal. While it was out we ran new tubing to the pitot thru the wing...a little tricky but not terrible. Kevin
  12. Actually I did it. The upholstery was done in Green Bay WI. The rest by me over 5 weeks or so. Call me if you want more details of the process. 920 621 3473 Kevin
