  1. Really nice video. I liked the idea of putting the camera closer to the fuselage... looks great. Oscar
  2. I was wondering what it takes to fly from the US in a Mooney to Europe. I know money, but what are the regulations, fuel, insurance, etc. how long does it take. etc.
  3. Yes...I can't see it...
  4. wow...I did not know that this started to happen in the US too. Happy to hear that you manage the situation well. Another thing you have to be careful is what kind of bumper stickers you have on your car. By watching them they can call your wife and tell her that they have kidnapped you and as a proof they can tell her that you are a pilot, own a Mooney... and Iike flying... etc. etc. As soon as I got to Guatemala, the UN provided my family and myself with a training to avoid this kind of scams... be careful...
  5. My CHT 3 also runs higher than the other ones. I tried everything but it is still above 390. It seems to be something typical of the M20c.
  6. I have tried several electronic checklists on my iphone and Ipad. I must say that I am not convinced. They are cumbersome (and I love electronics and gadgets BTW) and at the end of the day not very practical. Also, I have not found an electronic checklist for my M20C... So I am sticking to my old paper check list, at least for the time being.
  7. You can check in www.aviationconsumer.com. There are several articles about the crash and the factors that led to it.
  8. Scott, great!!!
  9. As you can see, I agree. I am from Argentina, I have been flying since 1992, I learned to fly in NJ (Caldwell), have owned an airplane since 1996, moved to DC, bought a Mooney, got divorced... then moved to Peru, then NY got married (but kept my Mooney), Bolivia and now Guatemala... Who knows where next...
  10. you sound like my wife...just in case it was Oscar's fault...
  11. aviation consumer article about lasar ignition. http://www.aviationconsumer.com/issues/28_4/avionicsreport/4881-1.html
  12. Unfortunately, LASAR is not available anymore. It was produced by UNISON and then Champion bought the patent. Now I really don't know who provides support to my system... :=(, o even if you could still buy it. I believe eletroair tried to get into that niche. My experience was good, the engine starts great, it runs smooth and consumption is ok. However, I have to say that I had the unit now for about 8 years, or so, and I had not problems with ti what so ever. Beyond the fact that my CHTs run a little high.
  13. I have been flying for several years with a LASAR ignition system. A precursor to the electroair ignition (it still has two magnetos as back up). Overall I am happy. Fuel consuption has gone down and the engine runs smooth. The only problem I see with LASAR is that it advances tyming by 25 degress, thus the CHTs run higher... Otherwise, ok. Would I do it again, most likely yes. Or, at least i would consider installing the electroair ignition.
  14. Mark, great video!!! I know how boring it is to break in an engine... but at least it seems that everyhing worked out ok for you. It is also great to see so many more videos these days!!! Marauder, I had the same problem in my tapatalk too...
  15. Mike, great video. I love the area. I was based out of Caldwell (where I learned to fly).
  16. I have a 430, 750 and 795. The 795 gets its signal immediately, the 430 and the 750 both take longer (about a minute or two once outside the hangar) but about the same time.
  17. If you want their discount go on the webpage contact them over chat and ask for the web discount. First time I called was over the phone and they did not give it to me.
  18. Tom, I agree it is a great addition to the 830. Instalation time was rather short. I would say about two hours, however (there is always a BUT), what is time consuming is the callibration, unfueling and refueling. That took at least another 3 hours.
  19. Are the yokes still available? I own an M 20 C. Can I install them in my mooney?
  20. accounting for the 2 gallons of unusuable fuel i was able to get 32 gallons into each tank.
  21. Given that I am currently flying in an area where Avgas is only avaiblable at one aiport in the country (!) sometimes I have to strech my reserves and that made me feel a little bid unconfortable. So I decided to add 10 gallons to my 52 gallons in my M 20 C. It seems to me that if you have bladders, the only option available is O&N. They sell you a kit of two 5 gallon bladders with everything you need to do the upgrade. The process is straight forward and relatively easy to do. Now I have 62 gallons avaiblable which makes me feel much better... Oscar
  22. I got tired of my Mooney fuel gauges and decided to replace them with an aerlogic digital fuel gauge. For those who don't know the company (at least I did not know them until recently) here is there www side. http://www.aerospacelogic.com/ Good customer service and great quality. Just make sure to request a discount when you purchase something from them... (I did not and later I learned that I could have...). Installation of the unit was easy. What takes a long time is calibration... You have to empty the tanks and then add 2 gallons at a time. Of course there is always something that goes wrong... and you have to start from scratch. So last weekend I went flying and I tried the unit in the real world. It really works great. The only problem are the fuel senders...if they are not in good shape the indication may not be as accurate as you would hope, but that was to be expected... Mine seem to be old and not as reliable, so (as mandated by the FAA) they indicate full and empty, and in between... well.... Another interesting thing is that because I added a 5 gallon bladder to each side of the wing to my 26 gallons, the fuel senders consider that the tank is full as soon as it raches 26 gallons and not 31. So from 31 until I consume about 7 gallons the tank indicates "full". Conclusion: despite these little observations I am very happy with the unit and I would recommend it to anybody who wants to get a better sense of how much fuel do you really have in your tanks (complemeting my jpi 830), Oscar
  23. Really nice video. It makes me wonder: when I will be landing on an airport like that again...
