  1. I just rocked the wings to greet my wife who was taping me...
  2. Hi guys, I convinced Erika, my wife, to tape my take off and landing...
  3. Let's make sure they don't communicate too much....
  4. If you fly in the US XM weather is really a plus. I have a 795 and an IPAD. I use both and love them both!
  5. I had my avionics shop do the work and they came back to me with a 12k installation quote of a used 60-2 taking my System 30.... My Minister of Finance, called Erika, jumped in and said NO WAY.
  6. Just to report back. At the end I had to send the unit back to STEC. Adding up everything it just did not make much sense... So I decided not to do the upgrade;
  7. i did the same.
  8. Thank you for the details about Mexico. When I flew down here from the US I decided to avoid Mexico and flew key west guatemala non stop. I still had to pay for the overflight but no landing fees... Also you have to request landing permits and get them before you enter the country. Not too complicated. But if you don't do it..your plane may be confiscated.
  9. That would be great! Btw I am going to suggest some dates soon. Most likely end of February beginning of march 2014. I am insured through AOPA and it covers Central America.
  10. I am sure it was Wilbur. I was there. Orville signed me off..
  11. I have a ZAON wired to my 795. It works well.
  12. Thanks looks really great.
  13. Congratulations!!! Yes, your switches look great! I was also wondering where did you get them from...
  14. Yes, indeed my plane is WAAS and GPSS equipped. I got just tempted by my avionics shop.On the field there was this Bonanza and they upgraded its autopilot from a 60-2 to a STEC 55X and the 60-2 became available. What I really liked was the autotrim and the Flight Director that could be connected to the ASPEN. I think what I need to do now, is to fly my plane with the new avionics I installed and wait until I get used to everything and cheaper options become available.
  15. I also heard excellent things about these courses. My only concern would be to make sure that after you finish the course, you understand that you have to continue learning and gaining experience in different kinds of weather systems and different seasons... In other words your instrument rating is just another ticket to learn...and have fun doing it.
  16. Yes, good points. Thank you very much for all your advice. I will wait for the DFC 90, or just keep what I have...
  17. Electric trim, glideslope and FD.
  18. Sniff..I forgot about April's fools day...
  19. Yes, I just got the final quote back. Us$7500 with the STC for the 60-2 and my STEC 30. I am not convinced...an opinions?
  20. Question for the experts: I have a STEC 30 autopilot installed (with altitude hold). My avionics shop offers me to upgrade the system to an STEC 60-2 (obviously used) for a great price. My question is: what paper work to I need to do? Do I need to send in the unit to STEC? How does it work.
  21. My CHT remained high for the first 50 hours too. Only now they have started to come down. So I would say that what you have is not bad news...
  22. Nice....thanks Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD
  23. February 2014. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD
