  1. Congratulations! With a plane as capable as that it's time to contact Mary Jane Sablan at Angel Flight Mid-Atlantic and get set up to do Angel Flights:) 1-800-296-3797 mj@angel-flight.org
  2. I can see that what you described could be a problem, not sure that the Stratus 2 would do any better?? -5 degrees f here this morning, wondering if the Stratus 3 will come with a cabin heater?:-/
  3. Picking up the weather on the ground isn't a problem at all with decent cell service, especially if it's 4G or LTE I'm still subscribed to XM but am considering canceling it due to the cost.
  4. More inflight screenshots
  5. Attached are photos that compare ADS-B and XM in light rain. You can see that the darker green displayed on XM is the only green displayed on ADS-B. The only time it was actually raining was when flying through the darker green. You can see that the time stamps match.
  6. I flew 40+ of cross country last summer (east central US) using iPad 4, Foreflight, Stratus 2, alongside XM weather displayed on a MX20, overall I would say that ADSB is the winner (ADSB radar is lower resolution, but very sufficient) Also, in every instance on multiple trips ADSB textual METARS updated 9-16 minutes sooner than XM
  7. Welcome aboard, sit back, relax, and enjoy the ride!
  8. 54 total time, all in the Mooney 45 cross country, 33 of which were Angel Flights Work, family and lots of bad weather in June/July kept me from flying as much as I wanted to.
  9. Welcome!
  10. Make sure the oil line fitting that goes to the prop governor is tight, on my M20F the fitting can be visually inspected with the passenger side panel off.
  11. I've been using progressives for several years with no issues.
  12. Ours has the STEC 30 with ALT hold and GPSS, seven years in service and no complaints whatsoever.
  13. Great! I remember the feeling of satisfaction, relief, freedom, anticipation!
  14. After using it on several flights I put it in the "wow, that's neat" category and haven't used it since.
  15. My 1969 M20F POH has the same line, in some circumstances I choose "takeoff flaps" but most times I choose "as desired"
  16. The first time I experienced mountain waves over the the Appalachians it scared me, if you're IFR, advise your controller and they'll work with you because it's easy to bust your assigned altitude.
  17. Ordered a copy of "A Gift of Wings" a minute ago.
  18. Fate Is The Hunter by Ernest K Gann
  19. Am I still considered a Mooniac if I continue doing no-flap takeoffs on 5000'+ runways, as I've done for 500+ hours? Why do I like no-flap takeoffs under (normal for me) conditions? 1. The plane is less squirrelly while on the runway (especially in windy conditions) 2. One less thing to forget during climb out. 3. ..............to be determined.
  20. Great video! Brings back memories of flying into RDG to drop off/pickup my son and daughter who taught summer bible school in the city.
  21. I agree, great airport!
