  1. Fuel is over $8 there now.....gulp.
  2. Thanks to all. The fuel prices were what made me wonder what GA folks did to avoid that. Thanks.
  3. Can anyone suggest a GA friendly airport in the greater Savannah, GA area? Heading down in October.
  4. In addition to what Erik said add Saratoga NY and Lake George NY to the list.
  5. Good example of how it can change fast John. Good insight by all.
  6. Sad reality I guess......never thought of Mooney as "your dad's/grandfather's Oldsmobile"....lol
  7. Quote: flyboy0681 Well, it's not as if the TFR zero's in on the presidents actual location. A 30 mile radius TFR covers a lot of ground. In addition, the presidents whereabouts isn't exactly a closely held state secret. Even Lee Harvey knew where JFK was going to be.
  8. I would love to find a club or partner near me that has a Mooney.....even without flying one regularly, all I can do is dream about owning one someday!
  9. Quote: Parker_Woodruff Ok, so it's got more engine time than you wish. And the airframe time is over 3000 (does that really matter if it's been well-maintained and you get a good pre-purchase inspection?). And the broker is in Willmar, MN. Less than $100K here. http://strategicaircraft.com/1982-mooney-m20-j-201-n1151v/
  10. First it's not a Mooney I fly....that is my dream. I fly a Piper Dakota and it has a Bendix ‘dual mag’, singe drive w/ two magnetos in one case. Intermittent issues on run up for a week...had it checked no one could replicate.....
  11. Mag failure this past Sunday at 600 feet AGL. Very different when it "really" happens vs. practicing for it.
  12. "Speaking of safe, I was pretty nervous about the 2,400ft runway at Islesboro. I did the calculations repeatedly and kept thinking about it. I worked the fuel such that I would be 200lbs under gross weight for this takeoff. The day of departure, I took one around the pattern solo (for video) to feel out the climb characteristics in that condition. Finally we went for it. Got off the pavement after about 1700ft and was over 100ft by the end of the runway with another 400ft of cutout to spare. It worked out well. She climbs marvelously but I'm still weary about taking chances." Yes, better to be cautious and think through your risks/options. Nice job.
  13. Im not sure how to respond to parrots in the cockpit. LOL. Glad you had a great trip.
  14. The video made me nervous, can't imagine real life! LOL
  15. Quote: txbyker Fredricksburg (T82) then go across the street to the Cotton Gin. Rent a cabin which is really some upscale replica versions all centered around a courtyard and very nice restaurant. $$$$ on the Mooney scale. http://www.cottonginlodging.com/
  16. He was so proud of his Mooney....but didnt own it that long.
  17. Does anyone know why Patrick was selling his plane?
  18. Can I ask a real stupid one? Other than frequency of exam, what is the difference between a class II and class III medical?
  19. I am thinking of going for my commercial rating....for no other reason than it is another way to keep learning. I am instrument rated and have about 500 hours, what are the pro's and cons (if any) to doing this?
  20. He was very helpful to me, with posts and PM's, as I tried to learn about all things Money. Sad.
  21. Quote: jlunseth It does not correct, it only gets worse...drifting further and further.
  22. Quote: OR75 Does it eventually correct or does it stay offset 2 dots ?
