  2. This is a nice story. now you can spend easter with your family.
  3. I just called to place an order for that rudder spike thingy and they are discontinued. The owner said that there was not a big enough demand for it. That’s ashame. I’m going to write don Muncy and see what he can come up with. He’s a real genius when it comes to this stuff.
  4. Lol, oh yeah i just realized that. i guess thats the one then. thanks mitch and everyone else for their great advice.
  5. Thank you guys so much for all of your input. Mitch - i think i am going to ask don if he can come up with something like the link you showed me. its kind of pricey but exactly what i need as that is where the birds like to sit. i just need a ladder to put that thing on. i cant reach the top of the tail. Jose- Thank god i dont have any rats where i am at least not that i am aware of.
  6. Thanks guys. my local avionics shop fixed my unit and everything is now working well. thanks again for all of your input. i really appreciate it.
  7. I have a problem and am hoping someone may be able to help. I unfortunately have to tie down my plane as no hangers are available nor affordable where I reside. The problem I have is that birds like to perch on my tail and crap all over my plane on the same spot everyday. I’d like to stick a spiked strip of some kind up there but I don’t know if that is the best way to go about this. Does anyone else have this problem and have found a solution? I am really looking for something that will not be a long process to do. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
  8. I’m hoping some of you guys can help me. My glareshield lighting is now inop. This one knob controls The lighting on the pedestal, Compass, Map Lights and the tiny lights under the glareshield Brow. Premier in Ft Lauderdale thinks it could be the Dimmer Control Box (P/N 800049-503). They tell me that Mooney owns this Part and there is a retrofit available from Mooney but the price is close to $2k plus install. Premier said there is probably some shop that that can fix this for me but they do not know of one. Does anyone have any information on this? I would really appreciate it. Thanks..
  9. I am based at Farmingdale (KFRG) just outside of New York City. It’s about an hour ride on the train and you will be in downtown Manhattan. It’s very convenient. I would love to meet up with you and give whatever assistance I can. Teterboro on the other hand is extremely expensive. Please do not hesitate to contact me if I can answer any questions or concerns you may have.
  10. If anyone is interested txt or call me. 516-946-0578 I'd love to meet up.
  11. Hey guys. I just got into sun n fun and was hoping to meet some other mooney guys. Anyone interested in getting together for a drink or just talking mooney? Patrick

  13. The only paper charts I have in my plane are of the carribean and Canada. Other than that my 696 and 530 are my backups to the iPad. I have the America's database on each.
  14. Quote: rogerl I agree that the rosens work well; one issue with at least the older model is the friction at the screw at which they fasten to the airframe has become so low that they will swing around at inoportune times - it has become a safety issue, and it's not apparent how to increase the friction. Any hints on how to deal with it would be greatly appreciated ...
  15. Isn’t admitting you have a problem step 1 in any kind of recovery process?
  16. I'm not sure I would see a gear up 35+ yrs ago and a runway incursion a deal breaker. If it was repaired correctly it should not really be that much of an issue since this much time has past. But if the owner is hiding facts about the history then that's another issue. If it were me I would take another look at it.
  17. I have had a very bad experience with another Mooney Service Center in the Atlanta area. To make a long story short. I hired the mechanic to do a prebuy/annual and in my opinion the mechanic did not open a single inspection panel or anything. I had to hire an attorney and got my money back. I also had to deal with some very significant safety of flight issues that should have been easily noticed.
  18. I just want to clear something up. The military grade film that goes over your ipad screen will not protect the unit if dropped. The screen will still shatter. The good news is that if you bring the unit to an apple store and it is still under warranty. They will give you a brand new ipad right out of the box as long as you back up your files.it does not matter where you bought the ipad. (Maybe Verizon and AT&T may be excluded I’m really not sure). Apparently the ipad and iPhone skipped some corners in their screen design and a lot of units’ screens have been cracking. So if you are not happy with your ipad you know what to do….
  19. Mike trade in your plane for a cub. How can you defect? You are the founder of nj mooney club.
  20. I find that I have the opposite problem. I have to put pressure on the stick to keep the plane from taking off prematurely. I set it to the lower part of the takeoff trim setting.
  21. Quote: carusoam Patrick, There are many places to park at KLAL. Mostly in a big grass field. I think it would be challenging to taxi in the open fields in the dark. I used Winterhaven one year as a nearby stopover until we could get my 65C into KLAL. Setting up camp after dark would leave additional challenges. It might be a better idea to pick another airport near by and fly in early the next morning. Hedging your bets, you would want to make your large ground movements during daylight hours. Best regards, -a-
  22. I would like to come but can only make it for the last 2 days. I would be arriving late and was wondering if you guys can give me a bit of advice. Would I be able to get in late at night? And is there camping or low cost hotels that may be available? I have never been to an event like this. Thanks..
  23. the previous owner did this to my plane and was a major reason why i purchased this. there are no mods that i know of. just a engine swap.
