  1. carusoam, I called the folks at Robbinsville and got a quote from them. They are less than an hr away from me. they also have a shop in NY I think in Stewart or somewhere around there. I do not doubt they do good work but I can’t pass up Artcrafts price. The 2 shops from what I remember when I talked to them was that they use JETGLO and have almost the same process at artcraft. The only difference I could see was pricing $10k vs. $15,500. The advantage however is if there is a problem I don’t have to go out to California again to get it corrected. But you have a beautiful bird as well. I’d love to see it firsthand. I am based in FRG(Farmingdale Republic) not too far from you at all. Patrick
  2. I don’t want to take away from Mr. Jeev's Post. this is really about him and his plane. but I fly an avg of 50hrs a month. if you look up my tail # on flightaware you can get an idea of just the IFR flying I do. it does not include VFR. doing a true cross country trip is long but I prefer long trips. I am looking for a quality shop and pretty much sold on artcraft.
  3. N9154V, I Like your N#, My N# IS 9154K. To answer your question, I’m not concerned about distance. I travel all over in my Mooney. I am mostly concerned about which shop can do the best job at a fair price. I have gotten quotes from all the top paint shops in the U.S according to aviation consumer. artcraft seems to do more mooneys than most with the exception of maybe a shop or 2 in TX. artcrafts price seemed to be the best for the work quoted. all the rest use the same materials but charges allot more. so I am going with artcraft hopefully in January. they are all booked in December.
  4. Brett, I spoke to Webber last week about rigging when I was there for some minor work. When you pick up the plane could you tell us if you notice a speed increase and how many hours it took to complete. I would be very interested in hearing your story. Patrick
  5. thank you very much for your input. i am going with artcraft. the only thing i wasnt sure about was the clearcoat. thanks again and happy flying.
  6. Jeev, Yes I have spoken to them and got a quote already. I was just very curious about the clear coat option. It’s a bit pricey and the opinions seem to differ on if you should get it or not. I was watching a video on avweb and their expert said it’s undesirable. Anyways. You have a fantastic looking bird and thank you.
  7. Jeev, This is really a beautiful plane. I am in the process of looking for a paint shop and was thinking about Artcraft. Did you get clear coat?
  8. Thank you guys for your help.
  9. I have a M20J with a Shadin Mini-Flo. My fuel transducer is about to die. I can’t seem to find the part other than Shadin for $600. Does anyone know where I may be able to get one at a lower price? The P/N 680501-1 (29.0) Thanks for any help you may have.
  10. I can only comment on my one and only experience with joey. I had a very bad experience that could have ended with an accident due to negligence. Again i can only comment on my experience.
  11. You are welcome. I was very naïve when I purchased my plane and did not know about Mooneyspace until afterwards. This was my first airplane purchase and my first experience with a Mooney. I’m glad I could help out. I am still paying for my mistake with Cole. Patrick
  12. If you are considering Cole Aviation. Please read my post . I would really stay away and look for someone else. In and around Atlanta you have a few to choose from. The comments that I have read after my post are pretty much the same. I hope you don’t make the same mistake I have. http://www.mooneyspace.com/index.cfm?mainaction=posts&page=1&forumid=1&threadid=3930#post49011

  15. Mr. Breda, I am assuming you read my post about Cole Aviation (A Mooney service center). If so I thank you for taking the time to read it and I think your idea is a great one. I just joined Mooney space and I was originally looking for a forum section on maintenance shops like you had mentioned. Sadly I could not find one. I think this would be a valuable asset for anyone owning a Mooney. The only problem that I can envision is one where the owners of the shop could make up a screen name and put inaccurate information on a forum. This happens quite a bit on review websites, to make them seem better than reality. But I guess that will happen anywhere. Great idea though. Patrick http://www.mooneyspace.com/index.cfm?mainaction=posts&page=1&forumid=1&threadid=3930#post48998 my post was deleted because i wrote about my bad experience about the above mentioned mechanic and printed his name. i think its unfair but i hope it helps others.
