  1. Looking at a friends highly modified 201 last weekend I noted a fairing covering the tube connecting the step to the fuselage. Is this standard on all 201s or a mod? Does anybody make a fairing for the much longer Ranger step? In 10 years of Long EZ ownership prior to the M20C, a gear leg fairing was the most effective speed mod I did and I imagine a proper designed fairing around the step could add some performance. At a minimum it would look faster than the standard tube.
  2. We used WingsX for the last 2 years on a IPAD II. However with our frequent trips to Baja California, the coverage south of the border was disappointing. Honeywell’s MyWingman offers IFR charts and topography for Mexico, and seems very user friendly. Also the flight planning functions are superior to other products, as the program uses different fuel burn for different phase of flight. Honeywell offers a very generous trail period and I think it is worth a try. A word of caution concerning the use of IPADs, it has happened a couple of times to us that the IPAD shut down due to overheating. We use a ram mount on the copilot side and when the sun shines on the unit it can stop working after a short time. We left today in KPSP (95F) and after lthan 30 minutes Apple's finest gave up. After 30 minutes in the shade it come back to life. This might be not an issue for people up north, but if you are based in the Southwest this is something to consider.
  3. Garmin offers a HUD for $150 that connects to an IPHONE for automotive use. This could be a fantastic add on for Garmin Pilot, Foreflight, or WingsX. Somehow i doubt Garmin will allow the use of the unit for aviation use.
  4. I have a complete system for a 4 cylinder engine. Includes indicator, harness, 4 CHT probes and 4 EGT probes. Asking $625 includes shipping.
  5. I have a complete Gem Graphic Engine Monitor 602 for a 4 cylinder engine for sale. 4 CHT and EGT probes, harness, and manual are included. $625 including shipping.
  6. If the plane is in DVT I would recommend Ken Tekut. PM me for his contact information.
  7. Mike your numbers look very similar to my readings using spark plug probes on all cylinders. Did you have a chance to fly the airplane after you installed the new probes. I am considering changing my probes as well, and would love to hear about your results. I am wondering if the duct attachment behind #3 supplying cooling air to the fuel pump is one of the reasons why this cylinder is the hottest.
  8. I have to replace my Gill G35 as well and like the the idea of installing a sealed battery, but it seems the Concord AXC is 5lbs heavier. Does Concord have a STC for the AXC?
  9. SOLD
  10. NO, needs VOR composite signal.
  11. Lowered price to $300
  12. Very clean KI-203 with connector. $400
  13. I am contemplating the LASAR lower cowl closure and it is disapointing to hear that you didn't see any speed increase. is the advertised 3-5 mph increase just smoke and mirrors? Could you please expand on the cooling improvement results. Frank 1970 M20C KPSP
  14. http://www.garrecht.com/index.php/en/ads-b/trx-2000 http://powerflarm.us/ The FLARM system is becoming more popular amongst glider pilots worldwide. I don’t know how many users in the US, but if you fly frequently in close proximity of soaring centers you might want to take a look at this system.
  15. •Interfaces with most CDI (w/resolver), HSI, and autopilot systems (From Garmin Webpages) Neither the 209 nor the 209A have a resolver and will most likely not work with the GNC255. KNI520, Collins 351, KI206 are older indicators with resolver that should work with the GNC255.
  16. Considering the significant amount of money for the installation I would advise against the Garmin 155, How much does your shop charge per hour? You might end up spending 2 to 3 times the value of the radio on the install. On the other hand I think that investing 25%-50% of the ships value on an panel upgrade doesn't seem a sound financial decision either. Trading the 155 for an 155XL might be an option to consider, If you have a working positive control I would look at an Accutrac. One of the members offered a system recently and there is also one for sale on ebay right now. We use a GX60 to drive the accutrac and even and the setup is tracks very accurate,
  17. Looks great! when we bought our M20C we tried the yoke covers from a company in the SF Bay Area, but they ripped immediately and we returned them. I am tempted to try this. Could you please expand on the materials and tools you used. Do I need to buy one of the "kits" for leather working and what is the blue tape. Again beautiful work.
  18. I am currently doing an avionics upgrade and starting looking at the original weight and balance and found a lot of inconsistencies. For example the direction gyro is listed at station +20.0, the cigarette lighter at station +16.0 and the factory installed KX170 at station 19.3. Due to the instrument specific CG the lighter should be at least 4"-5" aft of the panel mount instruments. I measured 28” from the panel to the nose gear support bolt (Datum centerline). The math on all those numbers doesn’t seem to add up and I was wondering what the correct station for the panel should be. Thank you, Frank
