  1. And I stayed at a Holiday Inn, but you don't see me performing open heart surgery on myself!
  2. Thing is, I don't think you need to touch the brakes to slowly develop a flat spot. They have a tendency to touchdown on the same spot every time, so it gets worn harder than everywhere else. I've noticed this on every set of tires I've had including the Goodyear III's. Whatever spot reaches cord first is the end of your tire, even if there's a bunch left everywhere else. The Goodyear Flight Custom III are 2x the price of Air Hawks. From what I heard and my own experience, they last 2x the number of landings. From a maintenance perspective, that's half the work and should be slightly better value that way. However, they're already pulling the wheels at annuals so if you get it replaced then, it doesn't add anything. However, a flat spot from braking or repeated touchdown wear can end the tire's life early. For this reason, replacing the half price airhawks twice as often is my preferred way to go.
  3. Lol. Let’s see version of @Marauder’s plane.
  4. Nope. Maybe that's from the car seat.
  5. Until you flat spot a $250 tire… much less painful when it’s a $125 Airhawk The expensive tubes are worth it though. Unless you pinch it going on. Then you’ll have a bad day.
  6. Air Hawks and Michelin Airstop cause I fly a lot and rub out the tires sooner than age. And because a leaky tube is a lame reason for unplanned mx or downtime.
  7. He needed fire extinguishers to keep his pants from going on fire from so much lying!
  8. Nope! He just conflated indicated airspeed with true airspeed! Doesn't know the difference. 135knots indicated at 8000ft is in fact 150-160 knots true depending on conditions. Instead he goes on saying how it can do 200 knots with a tailwind. So can a cow sucked up in a tornado. True airspeed is the only relevant comparison between airplanes so that when they both depart in the same wind, you can estimate how long it will take them to reach their destination. Your wish is granted.
  9. I made a video dispelling common myths and misinformation about the Mooney M20J that you'll often hear. It's a mockumentary response to the video by MojoGrip titled "One Of The Most Economical Airplanes You Can Buy - Mooney M20" Some myths debunked: It's a 2 seat airplane M20J has a Johnson Bar for gear retraction It is vulnerable to CG limitations It only goes 135 knots Fuel capacity is less than 64 gallons Only amputees or children can sit in the back It's super crammed And a bunch more
  10. Yeah, you do. @Parker_Woodruff really goes to bat for me. He helped me lose just 15% on my airplane insurance. Most guys are seeing like 30% increases!
  11. Your bigger concern should be completing your training and becoming a safe/proficient pilot and not buying an airplane. Some 80% of student pilots never make it to private because of dropping out. Regardless of market, it’s probably not the time to buy.
  12. A PLB would have been more useful than a parachute. He could have landed on a riverbed in the valley and then had search and rescue find him (even if he started hiking away from the wreckage). It would have been more useful if staging a hoax for YouTube investigators to tear apart wasn’t the goal. Although our planes have ELT, some are only 121.5 whereas PLB is 406mhz with GPS. Furthermore, if you try to hike away from the wreckage or it sinks in a water ditching, a PLB can be a lifesaver. Zoning in on a 121.5 ELT crash is still a challenge.
  13. Trevor Jacob crashed a plane as a publicity stunt with the message that "a lot of pilots can learn from my experience. Please fly with a parachute." If there's one thing we learned from his video, rather than wear a parachute, it should be bring a PLB. Yes, I know the whole thing is a staged stunt, but that has no bearing on real pilots. However, do think about what you would do if you piloted your plane down to the river bed in the canyon during a real emergency. If your cell phone doesn't work, you would rely on your ELT. However, if you have to venture away from your airplane or your airplane sinks after ditching in water, a PLB could be the difference between rescue or not. A PLB is a Personal Locator Beacon that when activated, finds your GPS location and transmits it to satellites on 406mhz like an ELT. It works around the world and does no require cell phone coverage. So feel free to ignore Trevor Jacob's silly recommendation to wear a sport skydiving parachute for every occupant whenever you fly an airplane. But, do consider purchasing a PLB to make search and rescue more likely to be a success. If there's a second thing we learned is that his wallet is made for idiots and if you don't want to be investigated by the FAA and FBI, then don't get that wallet.
  14. What do you need in the backseat? I usually just put a bag with food/drinks on the floor behind the seat so it doesn't fly around and easy to grab in flight.
  15. I had to do the power off 180 spot landing at 39N for commercial checkride.
  16. Way to dox the guy
  17. Do you have a second hose out the other end?
  18. Cool! Kind of wondering what this is?
  19. You should see @carusoam getting out of a Mooney. He'll show you how it's done! Apparently it's a skill that needs to be relearned after a hiatus!
  20. Wow! What a save!
  21. Here's a video of a real pilot simulating in his airplane what a real pilot would have done in this exact situation if he wasn't an attention seeking poser
