  1. You might as well put a hundred hours on the massive plugs and then trash them and put the fine wires back on. After all you bought them! And they’re not worth selling. So you might as well use them up before going back. That’s what I did.
  2. Had the passenger door open in flight on two occasions. Both times were when a passenger (that should have known better) closed it. Both times happened shortly after takeoff. Both times returned to land, closed on ground, and a non-event. I never let anyone, even pilots, close it since then and the problem hasn’t recurred. I always close and lock the baggage door myself before flight. I don’t let passengers do it. Never had the baggage door open in flight on my ‘78 201.
  3. Have you had a cabin or baggage door open in flight? If it opened in flight, who closed it? Did you lock it or not?
  4. Apparently there was a DPE who’s DPE status was revoked over having a sip while virtually watching a WINGS presentation. https://www.planeandpilotmag.com/news/the-latest/2020/12/03/faa-fires-designated-pilot-examiner/ “Wittekiend also said the FAA had mentioned his appearing to have been drinking red wine during the call—Wittekiend was, again, not a presenter and he didn’t comment at all during the presentation. We reached out to the FAA to ask if it had policies regarding the consumption (or apparent consumption) of alcohol while attending such events, but we have not yet heard back from them. The practice, according to more than one pilot we spoke with on the subject, is quite common, especially for informal sessions held in the evening. ”
  5. More misinformation being spread: "Watch as Youtuber Trevor Jacob's plane stalls" "It cannot be restarted" These kinds of comments don't make GA look good or sound safe. Cannot be restarted or chose not to be restarted? He declined to comment... funny that he'd make a whole public video about it but isn't on every news show crying about how lucky he is to survive.
  6. Now that’s one place where you are more likely to get killed when you step out of the airplane…. no matter what the pilot does.
  7. If leaving the baggage door locked could have prevented the door from popping, the Jacksonville Mooney may not have needed first-responders to begin with...
  8. Kind of surprised to see this guy flying, chatting casually, while making steep banks not more than 30ft off the ground I set the start time at 5:11. Seeing the ultra low thrill seeking flying he was doing between 5:11-6:00 made me lose my ability to focus on what he's talking about or take him seriously! I don't know what the rest of the video is about and I could care less about his opinion about another view-soliciting thrill seeker after seeing this. This reminds me of the Roy Halladay Icon 5 crash after dragging wingtips in the water and similar stuff. Just because it isn't illegal to fly that low doesn't mean it's a safe thing to do.
  9. Maybe there was still some air in the tube? When I've come out to find the plane sitting on a flat, the corner of the gear door would be on the ground
  10. That’s cause the inner gear doors dig into the ground when it’s fully flat.
  11. They made the switch in ‘78 for J so I’d guess that would be when if they were still making Fs.
  12. But the angle of attack is the same. Install an AOA indicator and that's one less thing to mix up.
  13. Get transition training Learn to land it Lots of practice Get instrument rating Fly the heck out of it and enjoy
  14. I felt like my life was in jeopardy. Do you see another tail pointing the right way!?
  15. You’d have to rent a bus And I dunno if you can afford to buy that many lunches!
  16. One time he didn’t make a single post on Mooneyspace for a whole day. We had to send someone by his house just to make sure he’s ok!
  17. It’s all hearsay. I mean I wouldn’t be surprised if it turns out to be true. But, it’s also possible to pose the whole thing as a hoax to get everyone worked up without crashing any planes. As of right now, there’s no wreck and no evidence except for a highly edited “prank” video, and a bunch of hearsay.
  18. Figured you’d recognize me from all the videos
  19. *Alleged crash We don’t even know that for sure. Some have speculated an RC airplane or Hollywood magic. Just cause you seen it on TV don’t mean it’s real!
  20. ^This ^Or this Been there, done that! Ive noticed that the first flight after sitting for mx this can happen and hitting the override gets it going and by then it’s good. Could also happen after messing with pitot plumbing.
  21. You know how they say there’s no free lunch? Well I have discovered the magic formula: 1) Own a Mooney 2) Be friends with @carusoam 3) Fly said Mooney to the last corner of the Earth: 47N Central Jersey And enjoy a personal tour of the middle of nowhere, Manville NJ, as well as a top notch cheesesteak at a local BBQ place. Talk about Mooney’s and the good old days. Yes, I met Anthony so I think that kind of makes me famous too. #NJMP Mooney Pilots Fly-In
  22. Nope. Had her for 11 years and still just call her “My Mooney”
