  1. Alabama, Oct 22nd. I'm in middle so will let Hank and Jerry decide where. I'd suggest Auburn, but there's a game at 5:00 pm. In my younger days I'd have gone for the free food at FBO. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. Doesn't the STC require dual alternators? My 262 has a lot of weight forward with two 80 amp alternators. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. This is my first plane with TKS. Honestly, I don't have much experience with ice. The few times that I have been in ice, lower was an immediate option. The turbo puts me up there with it through more months of the year than an N/A aircraft. Anytime I go through an ice layer, it will be on. I'd rather be shot at than fly through ice. Guys like me with less experience will probably get more use out of it. The stuff is a sticky mess. Don't test the panels in your hanger.
  4. Agreed on the AL lunch meeting! I'm in for next weekend if Kate makes it out of the shop. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. I'm getting one of those yellow things. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. I am so impressed with the beautiful C's I see on this site. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. Vegas little too far from Alabama for me. If you all decide on New Orleans, I'll be there. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  8. It's going to be interesting to see how changes to medical requirements affect the market. I was part of a discussion last week with several older gentlemen who have lots their medical. They have means and experience to get back into complex aircraft. One guy had already bought a plane. I really think this segment of returning pilots will strengthen Mooney values. 9. Just to follow up...bolts we're backing out of alternator casing on the primary, geared unit. Rebuilding it and the coupling. Expensive repair mostly cause the thing is so hard to get to. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  10. Thank you for the replies. Hopefully I have found all the new owner squawks! We sent it out for rebuild...I'll just wait for this one to come back. It's an STC'd jewel. The factory unit is difficult to remove. This alternator is bigger, making it especially confounding. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  11. Need some help finding this alternator. It's the 12 volt, 80 amp geared unit that was installed on the 262. P/N not coming up with aircraft accessories. Thank you, Bryan Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  12. Ditto Paul. Thank you. I have dual 12 volt alternators. Lost something last week that sent the volt meter dancing. Dropped plane off with Rickey Gilmer in Pell City yesterday. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  13. Piloto,

Can you help me troubleshoot electrical system?  262/252 with Dual alternators:  Using split switch, isolate the left, everything normal, steady volts on EDM-700.  Isolate right, voltage is erratic...lights vary in brightness.

    Thanks!   Bryan

Sounds like a voltage regulator or connections problem. Check the connections on the back of the generator for looseness.

  14. Picked up plane in May. Had two pregnant mares by July. Dang. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  16. Don't really need the useful load. I'm just looking for a little more performance. Recently got out of an A36 for something less SUV that flies higher, faster and funner.
  17. I appreciate all the replies. As my last plane, it will be fun to keep updating for the better. For now the nose wheel stays.
  18. I'm not really going to pull the a/p, but imagine the performance of a bare bones, interior and all out Mooney.
  19. My 83 K started life a lean 1949 lbs empty. Previous owner, "added something every time I scared myself." 119 lbs of neat stuff heavier, I am now an ideal candidate for the tailcone ballast. Alas, another 13 pounds. So...at annual I'm pulling the DME, ADF and considering the stormscope at over ten lbs. I started reading over the original equipment list. Wow, there is a lot of weight on there. I can pull the clock, parking brake (never use it), dual brakes, shoulder harnesses (8 lbs!), 2nd alternator. The autopilot weighs 25 lbs..
  20. I've run a tank dry on a the C model. Full power almost instantaneously with selector swap. I don't do it anymore. My wife freaks. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  21. Priceless. What a great sister. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  22. Does anyone know how many gallons the K takes to level with flapper thing in filler neck? I rarely need 76 gallons. That said, my factory fuel gauges are dead nuts. Never seen it before, but they prove out on fill up. Crazy, I know. Where's the guy who sells senders?
  23. Jerry, No offense to you DC folks. Locals at the FBO (Maryland, 2W5) were very helpful. I'm spoiled flying out of an uncontrolled airport with spotty radar coverage. Bryan
  24. Good luck! Don't forget to enjoy the ride.
  25. How'd it go Skate? Did you have to read any water towers?
