  1. Quote: KSMooniac Why not put it below your existing 430? Is it a WAAS unit?
  2. My Nephew and his family just relocated there - Semper Fi And congrats on the purchase.
  3. Quote: Bnicolette Does anybody happen to know what size screw goes in the "hub caps"? Two of mine are stripped out and I want to put in a heli-coil so I can get my dust covers back on. Just wondering what size to buy? (too lazy to run to the airport first) There are listed as MS3506-241 in the parts manual but I can't find them anywhere online? Thanks, B~ Nevermind, I think I found them: AN526-832R5
  4. "Minor Issue: My WX (WingX) databases were erased in the transition and need to be reloaded. Took out Foreflight's databases as well, couse that happened to me before with any OS update on the IPad - lesson learned - don't upgrade till your databases are about to expire - that way you only have to re-download one time.....
  5. "While a monitor would be nice, or even fuel flow, this year will be a reseal instead." I managed to pull off both this year JPI had a heck of a deal on the fuel flow at OSH 480 with a 200 dollar rebate..... I'd have to say if I had to choose from one to the other I'd go with the egt first and the fuel flow second. Remember at 5+ a gallon that investment pays back dividends...... (at least that was how I got one over my conscience to make the purchase )
  6. actually the folks at the bowling alley.
  7. Quote: jetdriven Related: I had a 4 hour @&$#*&!$^ job installing that pilot side seatbelt clamp on the J. How did you do it?
  8. Is there a reason not to siphon fuel? Other than the fact it tastes bad.... sorry flashback to my younger days....
  9. Oh absolutely - I'd check that first - just commenting on the adel clamp.
  10. " perhaps a couple of adel clamps around the frame" I just put in hard points for shoulder harnesses in the front seats - I got the kit from Alpha Aviation - if you dont have the "factory" accomodations you may want to check it out, the clamp is very stout and would stand up to the constant tugging better than an adel clamp would. 11. Scott - take lots O pictures - Hopefully I'll be doing mine before year end.
  12. Don't suppose you took any pictures of that? It would be neat to see.
  13. You could always buy another Mooney - teach Momma to fly - go in formation and still have a lower operating cost
  14. Just got a heads up on this - a friend saw it as OSH this year ( I missed it) Could be handy for going to a place for the first time. www.flythepattern.com
  15. Quote: N1026F That's assuming that the ensuing lawsuit is blind to how deep the pockets are - for some twisted reason fair compensation goes right out the window when it's perceived that the defendant has deep pockets. It all goes to the mentality that those who have more are have to pay more. I think the fundamental problem is more the greed that raises it's ugly head - and a company that needs to protect itself against that greed.
  16. Quote: jetdriven Whatever happened to good old fashionaed accountability. You get drunk. You fly into a chuirch full of nuns and baby seals. You cannot be sued for damages because of corporate trickery, yet I can. The fundamental problem with a corporation is it has no body to imprison and no life to take if it does wrong.
  17. I actually found one on craigslist one time

  19. I bought the Vertex VX 300 - I usually don't read directions for anything I buy..... not true with this purchase. Not real intuitive BUT once I did read the directions it made sense. That said the thing that really sold me was the guy repeatedly dropping the radio on the concrete and then dunking it in a pail of water. In fact they had one in a jar of water turned on and working...... I really like the compact size as well.
  20. I heard that parts for the vintage windshield mod willl be available as well - Whaaahooo
  21. Quote: jetdriven I often wonder about how many airplanes at OSH or other events get prop strikes. There does seem to be a pretty big risk for it and no way to see gopher holes. We did taxi at OSH but it really makes me nervous.
  22. From the Wall Street Journal - Means-tested programs, designed to help the needy, accounted for the largest share of recipients last year. Some 34.2% of Americans lived in a household that received benefits such as food stamps, subsidized housing, cash welfare or Medicaid (the federal-state health care program for the poor). Another 14.5% lived in homes where someone was on Medicare (the health care program for the elderly). Nearly 16% lived in households receiving Social Security. High unemployment and increased reliance on government programs has also shrunk the nation’s share of taxpayers. Some 46.4% of households will pay no federal income tax this year, according to the nonpartisan Tax Policy Center. That’s up from 39.9% in 2007, the year the recession began. Thats alright - Uncle Sam will help.. we'll just raise taxes on the rich and give ya a government job... should only cost about 200k per job.
  23. Quote: gregwatts I say ROP is better..........just sayin
