  1. Are you posting from a computer or a phone or iPad? In my experience, the operating systems of phones and my iPad aren't compatible with this forum's software. Kinda sucks. On the other hand, it does help restrain my addiction to all things Mooney.
  2. A California resident buys an airplane from anybody anywhere and they will pay tax on it . Not only that, but it can be as much as double what some of you guys pay!
  3. Quote: KSMooniac Not to mention engines that get welded-up are the cases, not the cylinders. Case cracking is due to a variety of causes not related to potential shock cooling...
  4. Quote: jetdriven there arew plenty of cylinders that crack, I think its bad castings or flaws in the metal.
  5. If shock cooling is such an OWT, then why are there so many cracked engines out there? Why are there companies specializing in welding up cracked engines? What causes these cracks? Just bad luck?
  6. Seems like the next guy to build a pump striping system needs to post up the part numbers of all the stuff that is known to work. Maybe pictures too. A call to LASAR might help, because even though the state of California won't let them do it anymore, I hear Paul Lowen is the guy who invented the process.
  7. Do you have the drawings for the 1.5" extensions? That's what I'm considering.
  8. Quote: flight2000 Lots of gray area if you ask me.
  9. Quote: Magnum I have the AV-17 voice anunciator from EI http://www.buy-ei.com/Pages/Miscellaneous/Misc_Annunciators.html
  10. I think it is a fair question and appropriate for this forum - has anyone actually done the experiment and taken the bullet for the team? I bet SOMEONE has. Has anyone installed vg strips on their mooney that they can state by direct observation with their airplane rather than conjecture if they do or do not reduce cruise speed? A simple question of experimental result, not speculation.
  11. Quote: thinwing looking forward to seeing how it turns out...kpc
  12. I really hope that the company that owns the Warrior sues him for damages. The FAA will find that his claim to a rough engine is false and the ATC recording is very compelling evidence that he chose to do a very stupid thing. The only thing that seems to teach people sometimes is to hit them in the pocketbook.
  13. Quote: N601RX Is the SWTA look alike 201 cowling still available? If it is it may be just as cheap if not cheaper after you factor in the Field approval vs the stc. It also includes new spinner, engine baffling, oil cooler relocation and an second landing light is optional.
  14. Quote: HopePilot Good luck Dave. I'm in annual right now.
  15. Played with the GTN 750 demo unit at the avionics shop yesterday. Very nice unit. Love it. Those buying it will not be dissapointed in it's operation. Reliability has yet to be seen. It is a big step forward and will be the new standard. It's the sort of box Bendix/King would have to had introduced to get ahead of Garmin. Too late now, Garmin will continue to dominate.
  16. Dropped off the plane at Executive Autopilots in Sacramento today to begin the panel transformation. I will be checking in and taking pictures. It's about time! Sadly, pretty much as soon as it gets out, it goes to my first annual.
  17. Just curious, if you're not using the 530/430, are you going for the new 650/750?
  18. My observation from the pictures seems to indicate that low wing planes survive the wind much better. Another advantage Mooney! I noticed from somebody's pictures on Facebook, that the one of a kind, tiger stripe Mooney military trainer (N20XT) was there at the show. Looks to have survived intact.
  19. Can't wait for the PIREPs!! These boxes really do look to be worthy successors to the 430/530.
  20. I feel the worst of all for the folks that spent years and years building an airplane from scratch, only to have it destroyed at the event where you really hope would make it all worth while. The pile of Pietenpoles is heart wrenching for me.
  21. Quote: scottfromiowa The Chinese make rifles that will kill you just as efficiently as a U.S. made M4. Drop them in the dirt, mud in the action. They function.
  22. Quote: M016576 Am I the only one that thinks that these are a big step forward? I can't wait to see the interface in action: I've always been angry that the 430/530 interface was so complicated (knobs, nested menus, etc, etc)- it's a human factors issue that it requires so much training to operate effectively. I'm hoping that the new menu system is intuitive; if they nail that, then I'll GLADLY get rid of my 430W for the 650..... or maybe even splurge on a 750. -JoB
  23. Quote: Mitch From Trey on MAPA List: Yesterday I had the chance to talk with Solomon Mayer, MAC President and CEO, about the status of Mooney. He was very upbeat about how the discussions with potential partners have been progressing.
  24. Quote: serottak i am missing something here. if i am willing to wait for cooperative weather i can fly to tahoe but i can't safely fly over it to the nevada side?
