1. I recently went we a JPI EDM 900 (see picture). Hands down one of the best investments I made.
2. My recommedation is to find the cheapest person you could to R/R the interior if he doesn't want to do it himself and send the pieces to hector at aero comfort for refurbishment
3. I saw the one in Fort Lauderdale that Premier is selling. I was underwhelmed with the exterior condition. The paint seemed like it was dulling from being tied down outside perhaps? I remember thinking to myself that it looked better in the pictures then it did in person. I can't attest to its mechanical condition. I suspect all three have crappy useful loads
4. 130K is even a pretty optimistic figure if you ask me. I wonder if they could or would come down 10K and include an annual?
5. Over the past three years I invested in a Garmin GTN 650 (10K) and JPI EDM 900 (10K) new PP alternator, new shock discs, new tires and tubes, new aero comfort interior (10k), overhauled A/P roll servo, plane has newer paint in great condition, I flew it twice from FL to TX so Maxwell's shop could do the annual (I'm done doing that - separate topic) etc, etc, etc. this is part of the reason why i don't know if I want the ass pain and expense of getting another mid body mooney up to my specs again.
6. I have a squawk free airframe (and engine) which I really love...but its a GB and i'll have to upgrade at least to the LB when the time comes. I would hate to start over with another airframe which is why I was looking at the mod. The GB to LB factory reman engine is 40K +\- and 10k more to add an aftermarket intercooler and waste gate. So the price of the MB engine (50k) is pretty much a wash...that would make sense to me. Factor in say 60 hours to R/R engines when the time comes. And 10 more hours to install the aftermarket equipment. So the labor hours are getting close either way I think? I would have to find out more about the prop and why that's so costly. I would also wonder how much useful load I would be losing? Time to ask more questions. All good stuff. Keep the comments coming please
7. Interestingly enough these are new owners and new personnel. I was told Coy Jacobs is in no way associated with this outfit. At face value the people I've been talking to all seem legitimate. Thoughts?
8. I was interested as well. There won't even be close to the 10 orders he needed to make it happen based upon previous interest (or lack thereof)
9. I was looking at it from the perspective of someone who was going to need an overhaul. If someone were in my situation wherein when the time came they were going to need 1) factory reman engine (for the GB to LB conversion) 2) aftermarket Merlin waste gate and 3)aftermarket intercooler might it make more sense to go with the 262 MB conversion when you factor in labor and cost to purchase and install all that other stuff anyhow?
10. I recently received a present day quote (attached) on a 262 conversion for a 231. I would appreciate it if you all could take a look at it at let me know your feelings on the price point. Thanks! -Nick 262_Conv.pdf
11. If AVEO ENGINERING is going to be there they are supposedly working on an STC for Mooney and other brands for LED lighting. There stuff looks pretty cool but I can’t seem to track down a time frame for when that might be completed I would also be real interested in the possibility of a TD-300 turbo diesel replacement for the J/K if Mooney is there.
12.
I'm seeing 155 KTAS @ 10K on my K with a FF of 9.5 GPH. Thats LoP between 60-65 percent power. (28"/2450RPM). So I would say the chart is close for the 231

13. Send them a message and ask. I'm sure their intention is not to take advantage of anyone. That program saves me a tremendous amount of money in not having to keep paper charts and approach plates updated. I for one will be a long term user/customer
14. I would urge you to think about resale before attempting such modifications
15. Do you have NEXRAD on board? If not, the warnings you’re going to get from ATC are not always going to coincide with what you’re seeing (or not seeing) on your storm scope. The storm scope depicts convective activity which is going to be the rough (and dangerous) ride you want to stay away from. The wx and precipitation in FL is common in the summer time and can changes in minutes vice hours. I would say I have a 50/50 chance that the ride will still be ok in even heavy precipitation when not associated with convective activity or the dark CB clouds. When ATC tells me about precipitation ahead and my storm scope is clear the wx they are telling me about is usally there but I worry more about potential hail damage with the severe reports (which I have been able to avoid thus far) then the ride in most cases. The wx reports I receive from ATC almost always coincide with something I see on my 696
16. Yes my plane, home, and hanger are in the St. Augustine area. Give me a call when u come up if you want to get an idea on what the airport has to offer
17. I spent a short amount to time at sunstate and would second Dave Mazer's opinion. If your not going to fly in your plane (which I think is ridiculous not to do) and your going to travel somewhere do yourself a favor and look at redbird skyport in TX. One price gets it done in a fixed amount of time if your serious. Only place I would want to go as I like the new approach to flight training their advertising and have embarked upon
18. Damn I was really looking forward to meeting up with everyone on Sat
19. There's usually only one reason for me to be at Avon Park. I wish the airport wasn't so familiar.
20. RNWY 10 @ AVON PARK. I tried to upload 4 videos. I guess only one made it
