  1. I have a pair of jumper cables for sale with the three prong adapter. I used them when i had my J/201 but since moving to a K/231 I dont have a need for them any more. $90.00 + FREE SHIPPING. eMail me @ FASTFLIGHTOPTIONS@gmail.com if your interested.
  2. Its better in the Bahamas
  3. In the interest of full disclosure there are also other mooney specific outlets which offer similar benefits w/o the costs associated with MAPA. You found one of them already. In addition, check out the Mooney Flyer which is published on a monthly basis. It's free and is actually pretty informative and worth a look IMHO.
  4. Professionalism....acknowledge and comply with clearances immediately. Know what your going to say before you say it. Be clear, concise, and brief. It's more about that then the type of aircraft you fly or the pilot rating you have.
  5. When you take off.... if you firewall your throttle (at sea level or close to it ) to get to 40" you have an automatic waste gate. I'm going to go out on a limb and say you have one because if you didn't you would probably have overboosted and blown up your engine by now by not knowing
  6. ...I find it ironic that a person or a group of people could get so worked up over relatively anonymous postings to a web site which you're not even paying to be a member of. I sign on to the site several times a week to look at the pictures mainly. For me its pure entertainment value and maybe a bit of interest in learning more about Mooney's that keeps me coming back. Life is too short and there are more important things in life then what's said on a public web site by people who most times don't even k ow each other. Does anyone know how many people died in Afghanistan this week? Have fun, smoke a cigar, keep your blood pressure low, go fly your planes LoP and join the Tea Party!
  7. When I was looking at the 252's they were 60K more then the 231 i purchased. That price delta seems to still apply. As a budget minded consumer I would opine that the 231 is the best bang for your turbo buck and even the GB engine could be run w/o the temp problems (at least until you get to the flight levels) if you have a modern engine monitor and a little common sense.
  8. 175 KTAS @ 17k on. 9.5 GPh LoP are real world non inflated numbers
  9. As jetdrive stated he signs the log indicating the annual was completed and the plane is airworthy or the annual is completed and the following discrepancies were noted. If he's refusing to do either dont pay him, get in the plane and leave with it. Simple right?
  10. Makes a GTN 650/750 w/ Aspen or G500 upgrade look like a bargain
  11. A- Do we live in a litigious society? YES B- Is the legal system to blame for some of the outrageous costs associated with GA? YES C- Would I ever sign a document agreeing to cover the legal expenses of a business from whom I purchased a piece of very expensive equipment because of A and B? HELL NO And to answer the question...Why should they be liable and pay defense costs if it is found to be pilot error by that owner? They shouldn't; however, the defense associated with the claim comes before a determination of fault. Is there a stipulation in the contract which says if the company IS found to be at fault then they would pay their own defense fees? I bet not. To me it seems like the company is attempting to limit their liability (something I don't have a problem with) at the expense of me the little guy (something I do have a problem with)
  12. Same day round trip from N. FL to S. FL several times a month. From FL to NY and PA to visit family several times a year. From FL to KEYWEST and the BAHAMAS to get away from family even more often. Always fly high (10k and above) always at max weight
  13. I would opine that your going to kill your engine using 50 RoP setting. Be careful with that and beware of the red box
  14. Glad I went the GTN 650 that's a show stopper for me
  15. I would still consider it subpar to the JPI EDM 900 as the display doesn't seem as crisp/as high resolution, it doesn't appear to be certified as primary for the fuel gauges, and the layout of things on the JPI seems more "intuitive" for lack of a better term to me at least
  16. They have update codes for the one time free updates. Same as the one time update codes that come with the new boxes.
  17. Zane- I think the ONLY time the conversion MIGHT be prudent is at overhaul time. I have the GB engine w/o an automatic waste gate or intercooler. Those are two items I'm going to want if I were to go with the LB engine vice the conversion. . By the time I'm ready for overhaul there might be a turbo diesel STC available...who knows. Now that's something I would for sure want to do
  18. +1 for autopilot central if your going the repair route; however, I would wait for avidyne (if its not going to take another 5 years) as opposed to throwing money at newer yet inferior STEC or Centry system.
  19. I receive my from my avionics shop now and then
  20. Avidyne DFC-90. Roll out time for Mooney TBD
