  1. Lance - I bet that one from commonwealth has a UL in the low 800's or even into the 7's. Still a good price none the less.
  2. The thing keeping me away from the Eagle is the autopilot. Not really in love with the S-Tec 30 which you find in most.
  3. My apologies in advance for posting in this section if it happens to be the “wrong” area. I previously owned a 201 J and then a 231 K. I had to sell the K three years ago when I moved overseas. I’ll be heading back to the United States in about 6 months and I am interested in having a Mooney waiting for me when I get there. Hence the search starts now. I’ve been watching controller and trade a plane but nothing on either site really strikes my fancy for one reason or another. As such, I was hoping to give this forum a shot. I would appreciate any (non-advertised) leads if anyone knows of any either now or in the future. Thanks! I am looking for the following type of Ovation... · O3 310 HP STC upgraded · Non G-1000 equipped · 1000 lbs UL (or as close as I could get) · No air-conditioning (eats up to much UL) · No damage history · MSC maintained · Complete log books · Original paint · Priced realistically (subjective I know)
  4. The engine was field overhauled which is NOT the same as a "0" time FACTORY reman where the "GB" designation is changed to the "LB" designation as a result of the larger throttle body which allows the engine to run significantly cooler. I would NOT mess with a "GB" engine.
  5. Stay away from the GB engine. It's antiquated, runs hot, was Mooney's first shot at turbochargng and will cost you more in the long run.
  6. +1 - I keep it with my other docs. I've never stuck anything on the plane. Its never been an issue
  7. If the past is any indication of the future it appears a new Acclaim will depreciate 45% or approximtely $50,000 per year for the first 7 years. I would imagine you would have to be some sort of business owner looking for one hell of a tax write off to buy one of those things new given the depreciation?
  8. Any idea (even ballpark) of what current owners could expect to pay for this "upgrade"?
  9. Hello- I happen to have two brand new sets of the Precise Flight Pilot Packs for Mooney which come with the Mooney Embroidered Carry Cases. I opened the packages when I received them to ensure everything was there and that's about it. I paid around $1000.00 for both sets together and would like to sell them as a pair. Each kit includes everything you and a passenger would need for flight with O2 including the expensive blue mask with microphone connections. Its not a fire sale but I would be willing to accept any reasonable offer as they are just sitting at home collecting dust. Email me if interested FASTFLIGHTOPTIONS@gmail.com -Nick
  10. I have a full maintenance manuals complete with diagrams and schematics from the factory if that's what your looking for. PM me if interested
  11. eBay enforces a damn good return policy if something isn't as described or not working correctly. No deal here
  12. Does anyone know What kind of harware/software u need to take a picture like that which allows you to rotate it
  13. +1 agreed! I actually consider this one to be a safety issue and I would argue WAAS = OPTIONS and OPTIONS = SAFETY
  14. I'd rather buy a timing belt for a 4 runner than garmin navigator for a Mooney. Lets not compare apples to oranges. The problem is when your looking at a plane built in the mid 80's like a 252 for 100k+ with all original equipment and you put pen to paper and crunch the numbers to determine how much it's really going to cost you to bring the plane into the 21st century from the perspective of paint, interior, avionics and maintenance you'll find you're now into ovation territory and could buy a plane 15 years newer that's probably not going to be as maintence hungry as the older bird and will return more of your original investment when you go to sell. Think about it. It's simple math. Why would I buy a 86 252 for 125k - 175k that's all original (yes there out there at that price) when I could buy an Ovation for 150k - 199k?
  15. 28 hours a year is not sitting? Really? Hours flown + calendar time not real telling? Really? If I bought it at close to that price first place I would fly that plane is to Vegas in hopes of putting it all on red and doubling my money in order to pay for the overhaul on that "low time" engine. caveat emptor
  16. Plane has been on the market for 2 years now? That should tell you something about what it "NEEDS"
  17. Why does it NEED paint? Because paint is protection from corrosion. Why does it NEED a new interior? Because if I'm spending over 100k for something that doesn't have a toilet in it or that I can't sleep in then it better be in damn fine shape Why does it NEED a waas GPS? Because if it doesn't have something of the sort you won't be able to fly it in the upcoming years (or use it to its maximum potential) based on adsb regs. Might as well buy a piper cub then You didn't ask why it might "NEED" a new engine. Average of about 35 hours a year and over 15 years old? Hmmmm... compressions could be perfect and I would still price the plane as having a run out engine. I've already bitten that bullet once and it isn't fun
  18. Need paint 10k Needs refurbed interior 10k Needs WAAS navigator 10k Probably hasn't flown much in the past couple of years so I would be worried about that low time engine. I would like to know when it was overhauled. Your seeing a lot of engines these days with low times that haven't been overhauled in 15+ years. If that's the case budget another 60k
  19. do you have the original propeller log books from day 1?
  20. I also have a complete hard copy if anyone is interested. I'll probably be putting it on ebay when I find the time. not sure if it's worth anything to anyone?
  21. Have a pair of bose aviation x headsets I've been meaning to put on ebay but never have. Email or IM me if your interested.
  22. My passengers are almost always my family so I know how much they weigh. I keep a scale in my hanger for luggage. + if flying over gross is not a big deal I wonder why Mooney didn't consider just increasing the useful load on these planes which would have allowed them to sell alot more. Maybe there is a good reason the UL is what it is? I dont know... I'm just thinking out loud.
  23. Urgggh! Most would agree that as a plane ages it gains weight for various reasons. Insulation retains moisture, plane was NOT weighted at the factory but instead an average empty weight of all airplanes produced during that particular time frame was used for the purposes of the POH, etc. etc. etc. It doesn’t really matter the reason but assume the basic empty weight of your Mooney is 50 – 100 lbs. higher which would cause the resultant useful load to be 50 – 100 lbs. lower than what’s stated in your POH. This could be a real possibility and we all know it. Now let’s add to that a pilot exhibiting this mentality… "It might be illegal to choose to carry a greater fuel reserve and taking off 100 overweight but I would contend it is not reckless." So in my scenario while you might think your 100lbs overweight you might really actually be 200lbs overweight? Maybe more? Maybe less? How do you know for sure? What happens as a result? Do you think your affecting the CG any? Is your engine which hasn’t had an overhaul in 20 years still developing maximum rated HP on takeoff? What’s the density altitude going to be that day? Any obstacles at the end of the runway? Does your non-pilot friend or wife who happens to be flying with you while your doing this know about the risks your taking? Would you tell them? No? Why not? ...I'm just sayin
