1987 205 SE / M20J For Sale - NY KPOU
LuvFlying replied to LuvFlying's topic in Aircraft Classifieds
It had a leak from a hose (or something, IIRC right now) that was fixed during annual. It was an obvious leak (oily belly) that I was aware of and was on the squawk list for annual. Since then, it returned back to normal. -

Engine type is a typo (since corrected) its a A3B6D I never asked Gann what they used. It was like that for years and stable. I wasn't concerned about it to have them investigate. -

Well... since you're so handsome... then you should be able to marry rich! I'll give you a few weeks. She probably won't sell by then. -
Well it’s time to let go of my Mooney. She has served me and my family well, but now I’m comfortable enough in my 195 to cut the safety net of having her around. They say the best planes get sold before they are advertised. This is a great example. I found this plane, right here on Mooney Space, and I'll bet she finds her new home with Mooney Space member again. I’ve set up a website with all the details and pictures. Here’s a some pics and specs to get you interested: 1987 Mooney 205SE Flown regularly Well maintained 530 WAAS, GPSS/roll steering Aspen MFD with Synthetic Vision Altitude Pre-select Yaw Damper 1040 SMOH 4350 TT Hangared No Damage History Hartzell Top Prop (535hrs) 1000lb Useful Load STC New seats from Oregon Aero IFR and Annual* Current (*end of May) And much much much more. $138,000 $119,000 Check out the website for lots of pics and all the goodies.

AWESOME! After trying to figure out this part number via the parts catalog I have, I had a V8 Moment and came here. Done! Thanks

Let me add my voice to the choir of "I'll miss Patrick" I met Patrick at a NJ Fly-in and was moved by his kind soul. It was wonderful to hear his voice on the phone Wednesday encouraging me to come to Saturday's Mega Mooney Fly-in. He was certanly one of the good ones. I'll miss him.

What a great story! I too am suprised by the attention you while being surrounded by "much cooler" planes. I guess perhaps it felt much more accessable to the folks. That's really interesting. I'm going to remember that next time I have the opportunity to be an Ambassidor and think about dismissing it becasue I think "My plane is not so special. Who'd care about this?" Thanks for shareing!

Garmin Aera 500 vs iPad with Foreflight
LuvFlying replied to Becca's topic in Miscellaneous Aviation Talk
Quote: Becca (since with an application like foreflight the charts get downloaded and stored on your ipad while in flight). -
Quote: Bob Mitch, My Attaboy check list makes that failure impossible. A checkilist is only effective if it removes the possibility for any and all error. Attaboy Checklist: 1) Tear off label 2) Remove cap 3) Fill bottle to maximum rim height 4) Reinstall cap 5) Toss behind you into right rear baggage area, out of reach of pilot. 6) Lean forward to adjust for weight and balance.

Quote: jmills Instead of the little bottle, what about the disposables? No need for anyone to see them, as you just drop them in the trash. http://www.mypilotstore.com/mypilotstore/sep/3256 (PS I have no affliation with Pilot Store, just used their site because I found them there).

$5700. Gulp. But I'd probably do it. It's adding real saftey to the plane. Please let us J owners know when we have the option!

Quote: scottfromiowa I have Zero complaints with my Bose X regarding ANR and sound quality...so if new headset is better, great! I have an aux audio jack that I connect for I-pod so bluetooth is not important to me. When I bought my X Bose sent me another headset...a week later. I expected them to ask for it back. They didn't. I didn't think the X was a bad deal at two for the price of one...

No STC? That's weird. About 6 months ago I got this quote from www.airmodsflightcenter.com "I'm interested in a price for front and rear AmSafe airbag seat belts. I have a 1988 Mooney M20J / 205 SE. Thank you." "The 4 place Amsafe kit is $ 6,800.00 and in stock at mooney, your choices of color is gray or tan, Installation time is approx 8 hrs per seat for a total of 32 hrs at $ 80.00 per hour, add 2 hrs for weight and balance, equip list revisions and 337 forms. The electronics get mounted under the rear seat compartment." I asked (3 times) for what it would cost (exact price) for two seats. Never got a response. With the closeness of the panel in my/our Mooney, airbags in the front are a fairly high priority.

Guess How Long Mooney Says To Get A Rocker Switch?
LuvFlying replied to HopePilot's topic in Modern Mooney Discussion
At least 2 months.... that's how long I've been waiting for a fuel pump switch. But luckly I'm not in any hurry. A spritz of WD-40 made it go from unusable to almost new. I think the think that makes them Mooney Specific is that the label is printed/engraved on the switch. >:-| Quote: HopePilot No dice from Chief. Has to be ordered from Mooney. Here are the necessary steps: 1. Send Mooney employee to New Orleans to buy voodoo kit. 2. Mooney employee returns and digs up Al Mooney to perform the necessary ritual of zombification. 3. Al Mooney (or, rather, his zombie persona) attempts to rebuild the part. 4. If Al Mooney is unsuccessful, the whole procedure is started again from scratch only this time they raise his brother Art. 5. The completed part is put in the warehouse seen at the end of Raiders of the Lost Ark for an additional 30 day hold. 6. Mooney lays off the worker who knew where the part was being stored. 7. Start over at step one and repeat as necessary. -
Quote: Magnum Bose says it takes too much battery power when using bluetooth (of course that doesn't matter if you use aircraft power with a lemo connector...)

I'm stoked! I recently ponyed up for Bose's new A20 ANR headset. You can check out my full Bose A20 review on my blog. I compaired them against the X, and a bit against the Zulu. I'll give give you the short points. Major Pros: ANR is WAY better than even the Bose X. I'd say at least 30-40% better. Comfort is a bit better with larger ear cups and deeper foam that do a better (but not perfect) job of sealing around glasses. Big Con: You can not pipe music via bluetooth. Sheesh! Lightspeed's had that for years. Ok... yeah.. they are expensive! $1125 including ground shipping.

LED Recognition Lights--Are you interested?
LuvFlying replied to Parker_Woodruff's topic in Modern Mooney Discussion
Soooo.... anything new? Sure is a GREAT idea. -
Just wanted to bump this thread to see if there is any more information/comments/experience from anyone. I finally tracked down that high pitched hissing noise - the front door. So I'm putting "front door seal" on the squawk list.

FBO Horror Stories (Linden NJ - LDJ)
LuvFlying replied to GeorgePerry's topic in Miscellaneous Aviation Talk
Ok... Let's not paint all NJ FBOs with this brush. There's some really good, helpful ones in the state. CDW / avantAir comes to mind. Now... MY experience with LDJ. Was not as rude, but totally apathetic and not helpful. It was my first Pilot-and-paws mission and LDJ was my first stop. Well, the starter give up the ghost there. It was Sunday. My first thoughts were "Ok... Now is the time GA is going to SHINE!" And looked forward to that legendary GA/FBO help. What I got was just the opposite. The guy behind the counter could give a hoot (except to get the landing fee). I was there for hours looking for help. Trying to get a rental car (Everyone I called was closed). All during this time, the guy behind the counter was totally unhelpful... even though I was engaging him, asking for advice, guidance. All I got was "I don't know" to my answers. Yeah... that stupid door lock was a pain too. The guy would disappear and I'd be outside freezing, trying to get in. I finally found another door, about 50' away that was not locked that I could enter/exit. During this, I found some other residents while hunting around that where extremely helpful... a guy in the adjoining shop and an angel of a guy who hand propped me so I could get home. After flying into TEB the other day (for the first time) I was going to recommend that some of the Angel Flights that use LDJ, but now I see that what I experienced was, what I thought was Sunday morning part-time help syndrome, really a reflection of how really lousy they are. I'm certainly going to discourage the use of LDJ now. -
I'm going! Who else is in? Edenton, NC Northeastern Regional Airport, September 25 Point Person: Amelia Reiheld sure would love to have a gathering of Mooney Ambassadors there, so all you Mooney drivers, plan to join us in beautiful historic , for a fly-in/community open house at Northeastern Regional Airport. It'll probably run from 10-5 or so. We hope to have area military big-iron, both static and fly-over demos, RC demos, food vendors, free airplane rides, exhibits from charitable flight organizations, etc. Camping and airplane parking are (as always) free, though you'll need to bring your own tie-downs. If camping and fair-food isn't your style, reserve a car with Enterprise, and book a room in one of the wonderful B&Bs in and around Edenton. There are some excellent restaurants, too. If Mama would rather tour the colonial historic sites and shop than talk airplanes, we'll find a ride into town.

Yeeee HAAAAA!!! Congratulations. Your patients paid off. I've got about 50 hours in my new bird and I'm loving her more and more each flight. So capable. So steady. So FAST!
