La-z-boy chairs. Comfy couch. All you need is a big screen TV and yer all set! That is an awsome interior. Thanks for sharing. Care to share some performance specs (if you dare) TAS, GPH, Useful load?

What!? No Aspen? No 530W? You guys got hosed! (LOL) Hey... stop teasing with those partial interiors. I want to see that wrap around couch. I love those curtains. And whata got for cabin width up front... looks like about 7'! Looks like a couple of lazyboy chairs for pilots seats too. Niice.

Yeah, I always brief and have big stickers too. But by the time we have our flight and they are all excited about getting to the destination or whatever (and I'm not there to guide/remind them cause I'm still in the left seat)... I worry. Rick - I like that simple reminder "step only on the black"

Owning my Mooney is my first experience with boarding via the wing. -On one of my first dog rescue flights the foster parent had the dog on the leash as they approached the plane, the 40 pound dog jumped up to greet me on the wing and came down on the flap. I nearly had a heart attack. -Was showing my daughter (shortish and 8y/o) my new Mooney and she had a really hard time stepping over the flap from the black area to the step. -Every time a non-pilot crosses over the flap to get in or out, I cringe. -Today I was looking at some of my warbird pics from OSH. I noticed quite a bit of them have their flaps down while being parked. It got me thinking... should I lower the flaps (reducing the horizontal surface area and potential bending leverage) when I'm going to have non-pilot pax? What do you guyz do?

1010 for my 205
-
Thanks PilotBob (from another Pilot Bob)! That is VERY helpful information The Note makes it very clear "NOTE The pilot is not expected to obtain his/her own authorization through each area when in contact with a radar facility." I guess I'm NOT responsible for getting my own. That's one less thing to worry about/remember. But, I may ask them, just to confirm just the same ;-) Quote: LuvFlying I was always under the impression that I was responsible for getting my clearance... that I was NOT automatically cleared via any space using flight following. Therefore about 10 miles out or so, I always ask "am I cleared".

I had a really good laugh with the subject line. I with cha on this one. Twins do nothing for me. The Piper Meridian on the other hand.... I lust after. But what about the FUN catagory. We can have our Mooneys and a FUN bird too, yes? Nothing I'd like more in my hangar next to my 205 than a restored J-3 Cub or a Pits It's fun to dream.

M20L (Porsche) IO-550 conversion information
LuvFlying replied to NewHeights's topic in Modern Mooney Discussion
That plane has been for sale for a long time... like approaching at least a year. It's one of the first planes I got serious about... until I found out about the useful load. The company that did the conversion (can't remember the name right now - NOT Missle/Rocket as Weaver was advertising ) went out of business (another flag) before they got approval for weight increase. If I remember correctly the useful load is somewhere arround 550lbs. So it's essentially a 1 or 2 person plane. No, there's no way to get approval to get that increased. -

Will do Jim. Next time I'll be at the plane will be Friday (at the latest).

On my my 205, it's mounted on the vertical wall under the back seat. The mount is about 1/2 recessed. It looks stock to me.

Inflatable lumbar repair: how to?
LuvFlying replied to LuvFlying's topic in Modern Mooney Discussion
And $48 for one. That's worth it - not to have to hunt down a leak, that will likely be on a seam that I can't repair. I just ordered one. -
Inflatable lumbar repair: how to?
LuvFlying replied to LuvFlying's topic in Modern Mooney Discussion
KS Scott- Yeah, I checked the bulb and visable hose, and connections hoping for an easy fix. Scott Av - Great tip! Is that "legal"? TSO'd STCd or whatever alphabet thing approval I need? -
Very interesting discussion. I always thought this was very clear cut. I guess I've learned that it's not! I was always under the impression that I was responsible for getting my clearance. I was NOT automatically cleared via any space using flight following. Therefore about 10 miles out or so, I always ask "am I cleared". If we feel that's repetitive, unnecessary, so be it.

I've got a '87 205 with the inflatable lumbar supports in the front seats. The pilot's seat does not stay inflated for more than five minutes. I was thinking about pulling the seat apart to find/repair the leak. Does anyone have any guidance? I see in the parts catalogue that the lumbar parts are from Ford. I seem to remember my Dad having a Tbird of about the same vintage with the same system. Thanks ~Bob

Help Me Find My Plane (No Buyer Brokers Please)
LuvFlying replied to HopePilot's topic in General Mooney Talk
Patience is KEY. I was seriously and actively in the market for over 6 months (following 6 months of mission make/model refinement). I think many of the good birds will be sold via word of mouth. So let everyone know you are in the market.. your CFI, your airport manager, any A&P's you know... especially Mooney types, announce on boards (like you've done), etc. It takes a long time - way longer than you want it too. If I didn't find/buy the plane I did last month (and that was via word of mouth via this board), I don't know when I would.. I haven't seen one come on the market that I've liked since October. -
Help Me Find My Plane (No Buyer Brokers Please)
LuvFlying replied to HopePilot's topic in General Mooney Talk
I saw the headline and immediately was going to chime in on what helped me get my new Mooney.... but you beat me to it... the "Wanted" avatar. That cracked me up!! -
Pushing your 2,000lb pride and joy into a space with 1 inch of clearance is CRAZY. Invensting in that space - you need to be locked up. I have about 12-18" on either side of my wings and I sweat it out every time I roll her back in the hangar. Once you damage the plane - it's on the record forever. The bird will loose a big chunk of value. IMHO it's not worth it.

Quote: Parker_Woodruff I'm having mine removed at my annual inspection in February...not sure if they are 1.5 inch or 3 inch.

I am now free to move about the planet!!!
LuvFlying replied to HRM's topic in Vintage Mooneys (pre-J models)
Quote: Cruiser have you got any crosswind yet? I watched a Mooney land in some stiff, gusty winds at my local airport. He was on the ground when suddenly the right wing (upwind side) popped back up in the air. I thought he was going to drag the left wingtip on the pavement, but he got it back down with no apparent damage except maybe to his ego. -

LuvFlying replied to HRM's topic in Vintage Mooneys (pre-J models)
HRM: I with you brother! Getting my new (to me) Mooney last Thursday, my dual time has come in drips. I have a "10 hr of dual" leash I'm dealing with. At least today I got my complex endorsement!! I've got 4 more hours of dual before I'm set free to solo. 10 hrs of that and then I can carry pax. -what'll that take.. a day or two? :-)) I agree that these are fantastic planes. I've gone from a 1960's VW Bug to a modern sports car. It's wonderful.. to have everything work, to have the plane go where I want it, and behave as expected. All but one of my landings have been really good... today's was one of those "am I on the ground?" kind. Do the numbers and it all works out nicely. I can just imagine how well landings are going to be in a couple hundred hours!! -
Timely topic. I looked at a couple of Mooneys with Rosens when I was shopping. I put them high on my "gotta have" list. Rosen visors are about the only thing missing from "Katie". I was going to order them tonight, but was hesitating. Now I know it's the right decision!
