  1. Why don't you atleast call the factory before making assumptions. Just sayin
  2. I typically do 1000ft agl retract flaps, switch off boost pump. Climbing at 700ft/minute at 90-100kts is typical. I really don't like the idea of dumping flaps too early, I find the plane kind of mushes for a second before I retrim. Anyone else agree or think my technique is bad?
  3. The plane is a canadair cl-415. They are bigger than a pby
  4. what instrumentation conference are you at in Austin? what instrumentation conference are you at in Austin?
  5. Keep looking. I just went out hunting for renewal time and got 4 quotes back ranging from 1600-2500 to wont insure me being low time. 77 J. 82,000. 2 mill liab. 270 hours 70 on mooney. So I think that's reasonable price. Any others, similar boat?
  6. It's no more times than any other monitor. Probably 20 or so hours max
  7. Fuel pressure absolutely Wing tanks as primary yes What I was told today is it will do any 6 primary gauges you desire. Any others will live on the secondary page. It's really as good as it sounds. I ordered one today.
  8. Unit is 1 display. The demo had 3 or 4 of them in it.
  9. It's got a USB drive that can mount anywhere in the panel for data logging- I asked they question today. And to add fuel senders it's a $100 analog to digital converter that gets installed to read the mooneys resistance based sensors. So tomorrow I will ask about fuel pressure and fuel level certification. It has a page that you can set each left or right fuel quantity independantly as well if you want and for overall level it as a cool graphic showing a glass emptying as the level goes down. Ill try and post some more pics. They said that only got it certified this last Thursday and released today so it's got barely any info or pics online.
  10. I'll ask tomorrow about the fuel tank certification. And I can assure you it's crisp display. Even standing there playing with it people were coming by commenting on how crisp and clear it was. It also has a display page that shows a picture of the engine with all the egt and CHTs on it.

  12. Was snooping Oshkosh today and stumbled upon EI's new engine monitor released today. Its a 3 1/8 install and doesn't protrude from the dash like the JPI, is a full color. Certified for primary monitor and has all the same features as the MVP-50 I played with it for some time today and was incredibly impressed. Here's the punch line. Drum roll. All EGT, rpm, CHT oil press oil temp manifold press fuel flow are all included and primary. Aircraft spruce price. $3300. Yes. OVER $2000 less than the JPI 900. I wandered over to the JPi booth asking them their plan to match the price and rudely got "we've never heard of this new monitor nor will we discount ours." Ok I guess this new EI is it! Too bad cause I was going to the show to buy a JpI. I have a picture of it on my phone, how do we add pics on the new website.
  13. I am only a Canadian beta tester for foreflight and have no financial stakehold, so take my opinion at will, but I have used airnav pro and foreflight now for a year and must say that foreflight has put a trememdous amount of effort into the requests from Canadians to get the content available and accurate. The new charting format for the Canadian charts is new and is even better than the current US chart formats for now. I have been extremely impressed so far.
  14. Finally arrived today in the App Store Foreflight 5.2 with Canadian vnc charts. I just have to say I've been testing these new charts for a month now and all I can say is WoW. This is the best thing for Canadian pilots in a loong time.
  15. I just remember seeing discounts in ads online After the show. And I weighed in buying the 730 vs 830 and to add those options later is actually about 70 dollars cheaper than buying the 830 upfront. I couldn't believe it but true. If anyone hears anything or has any inside info I would really appreciate it
  16. Post bump.. With Oshkosh nearing I am looking at installing a jpi-730 with the future plan to include MP and RPM at a later date. I am unable to attend this year due to family stuff. Emailed JPI asking what their plans were for this year with no response. I am hoping to make the purchase during airventure through AC Spruce, anyone else in a similar boat? Thoughts?
  17. I'm glad not the only one with higher oil consumption on chrome. It's bugged me for 8 months and I too have a perma corrosion proofing on the belly
  18. Chrome jugs 3-4 hours/ litre. Talk to engine shop and was told that's about right, a re-ring could make it better or worse I inherited the engine w/ the plane. I would never put chrome jugs on an engine.
  19. I've thought long and hard over the best way to transport a mooney over roads and I firmly think that removing the wing is the best way. Drilling out the tailcone is not only risky but is a major structural piece. The wing is bolted on with 22 bolts if I remember right and fits together with a couple thousands of an inch precision. In my opinion the only way to go
