  2. Hello all This is the perfect time to think about an event that you would like to attend. Perhaps an airport day, AOPA/EAA fly-In or open house. Consider whether we would have access to the flying and non flying public, then contact the event administration. Here is what I do... I contact the event administration and tell them I am with the Mooney Ambassadors, we are an all volunteer service group that promotes general aviation. We would like to know if we can bring some airplanes to your event and park together. We have been highlighted recently by AOPA and as well presented a workshop at AirVenture. Most likely we have owners who would be willing to do a flight demonstration with a low-pass. We have detailed information for announcers or radio interviewers. Our airplanes generate a lot of interest. We have the possibility of a children's activity. Many of our aircraft could be open for folks to get in with the owner. I let them know that our best location is when we have access to the flying and non-flying public. I do mention that we have Ambassadors all across the United States and Canada, and even in parts of Europe and Australia. For you: It might be handy to watch the youtube video on staging an event: If you decide on an event, let us know and we will send a point person packet to you with all our Ambassador goodies to print. We have t-shirts available if you would like to buy them. Of course we will advertise the new event on the website, facebook page and in the MAPA Log.

  4. Well, my E model is Maggie II. In the 70s my father got the M20C/D that I named Maggie. If I remember I named her Maggie because it started with an "M" for Mooney. When we lost Maggie I in August 2003, my father transferred her N-number to me. In November of 2003 Maggie II was born and N5747Q became N6619U.
  5. It makes me wish I could fly to all these! HA. Come on the rest of you out there...think of an event you would like to fly to and make an Ambassador event!

  7. I guess that earlier post reminds me to always look to see I am logged in as MooneyGirl. Sorry Jason!
  8. That is funny Scott. Looks like a long-body. Happy New Year!
  9. This is the link to the story of the fellow who was killed with his children on board: http://www.charter.net/news/read.php?rip_id=%3CD9KJQLA80%40news.ap.org%3E&ps=1011 Let's all be safe out there.
  10. Hey Kelly and Jana Happy New Year and welcome "home". Mitch and I trained in the 182 just for the day because the weather was too cruddy to take Maggie, my E model. That is the airplane we will learn in. A TAD slower than the Ovation [HA] and less complicated. I was concerned that the wing leveler only [i have no heading bud] would present a problem on the check ride, but several on MSpace have told me that it was a non issue. Our first order of business is passing the written. With the hours we are flying for Ambassador events, we really need the ability to get out of the coastal layer and onward. Thanks for the kudos. We will keep you all aprised. It is good to be a "learner", but sometimes my brain hurts.
  11. Thanks Hank and to all who have responded. We will be learning with it in and with it disabled. It is so second nature to me to push the button in on take off and landing and in turns. I am not terribly worried about if it "fails". Our focus now is passing the written!
  12. Do all E models have the PC-wing leveler?
  13. So, I am wondering if anyone has taken a check ride for IFR in an E model with a functioning wing leveler. And if so, did the examiner know what it was, say anything, ask you to disable it? Mitch and I are in ground school and begun our flight training for our IFR rating. Curious minds want to know.... Photos of Mitch's first flight lesson attached!
  14. We wish you all a happy, healthy, and prosperous Mooney New Year!! Mitch and Jolie.

  16. You know Dave, I was thinking the same thing. Mitch and I are studying for our IFR written exam. So this is all pretty new for us. But I was thinking, with ALL DUE RESPECT to the family, whether military flying might lead you to be more confident that you should be. Perhaps some of our ex-military can give their thoughts. Would flying the latest and greatest for a living, give us too much confidence in our little Mooneys? Again, I am not trying to second-guess or offend anyone. I was just thinking about the factors that might lead someone to make those decisions with your family on board. So sad.
  17. Well, somehow MooneySpace thinks I am Michael Coyle..... the above post was from me, Jolie
  18. We had a great time Kelly/Jana at the event and then afterwards a bunch of us went to the Great American Melodrama for the holiday show. It was a blast. The "Reindeer Rap" song was hilarious.... You got questions? We got Antlers!
  19. Here is the video link for our Toys for Tots event at Oceano Airport: We had a wonderful time. About 45 airplanes and over 100 people. We received ten boxes of toys and cash donations. The fuel discount donation was sizeable and that helps the Toys for Tots even more. Next up for Oceano: May 14, 2011 Oceano Airport Celebration Day. If you watch the whole thing, you will see Mitch and I departing L52 in the mighty Ovation! Ho Ho Ho
  20. I have to say that I have just been sick about the factory going to skeleton crew. Some of my good friends have been let go. I remain hopeful that somehow positive will come out of this very very sad time.
  21. So we had an absolute blast. 45 airplanes on the ramp. Kids getting rides for free! We had over 100 people come and support the Marine Corps Toys for Tots. We loaded seven big boxes full of toys for our kids. It was just a blast. Mother Nature cooperated and we had a super day. Look for a video soon. Thank you all for your support. It was nice to see many Mooneys on the ramp too!
  22. Hey Fernando, we completely understand. We had a great day down at the airport today getting things in ship shape. The weather today was great. We hope tomorrow will hang in there. At least for the kid's sake! Get better Karen!! We might be going to Cable in January for the airshow and an Ambassador gig. Not sure.
  23. We are staying positive for the 80% that it will be a great day to fly to L52, have some great BBQ, hear some timely Christmas music from the Santa Maria Winds quintet, look at some Model A's from the Cuesta Crankers, and gather a bunch of new toys for underpriviledged children.........not to mention having another activity at our litte slice of paradise Oceano Airport!! If you don't fly, please come and join us too. See you there.
  24. I am hoping a 20% chance of rain means an 80% chance of no-rain. We have canopys, tents, heaters. It is for the kids after all. Come on Sun, keep shining!
  25. Gary, you crack me up. Like we need something else to do? HA I think Trey and Lela do a wonderful job. There are some new things for 2011. So, keep your eyes open, and your memberships current!
