  3. Quote: RobertoTohme Well, the dreaded report... 3 kts. gain solid, 4 at times; plane flies just like before. I was expecting to get the 7 kts. difference betwen the advertised speeds std vs. type s, but apparently fell right in the middle. In fairness to the plane, the winds aloft during my first flight were 40-50 kts mostly crosswind, slight tailwind component (8 kts), and my experience with that kind of x-winds is that the final TAS diminishes a little. It'll take a few more flights to truly assess the average knot gain. Now, about the 310 hp upgrade, it's worth every penny I paid for it.... It brings the performance I wanted to climb out of the nasty stuff quicker, get sooner to the FL's, and hence reduce my total enroute times.
  4. Darn it Roberto! I will be gone all weekend with no computer! I was looking forward to your report! 10 hours in a 152 with a passenger with body odor is your punishment!!! Mcstealth

  6. Does it say in the article why the GW increase for the Encore? Even Wikipedia does not tell me the answer :) . Maybe I am not looking hard enough. Mcstealth
  7. "The result, the Mooney M20K/252. The 252 in my opinion is a vastly superior aircraft to the 231. Predominately, my opinion is based on the substantial improvement to the engine. However, the airframe was not overlooked. Inboard gear doors were added and better engine instrumentation to name a few of the significant changes to the airframe. And, as usual with the magicians at Mooney Aircraft Corporation, they were not done perfecting the Mooney M20K. In 1997 the Mooney M20K/Encore was introduced. Once, again, the engineering phenoms at Mooney Aircraft decided to tweak a successful line of aircraft and improve it just that much more. The Encore possess 10 more horsepower that the 252, the latest design/innovation in aircraft interior and instrumentation and most importantly a substantial increase in the always illusive useful load!" I read this article previously, and it doesn't mention why the GW increase was allowed. It states the 10 horsepower increase, but nothing else. Mcstealth
  8. Well, I don't know the differences.
  9. I will go search for the differences, but If you already know, please tell me. Seems to me that I remember a GW increase over the 252 but I'm not sure why? McStealth

  11. You guys have way too much time on your hands...... I'm jealous! McStealth
  12. Roberto, I will see if I can get an answer for you though my contact is not in the engineering/mechanical side. He is still working though. McStealth
  13. I have talked to Don Maxwell about this exact kit and he says they perform as advertized. He has in the past installed them for customers, and he quoted some numbers about time for intall, but sorry I don't remember them. He did say a competent mechanic could do it himself, but wouldn't recommend it of course. I have seached for Mooneys with this kit installed in the trades, but they are scarce. If it were me and I had the money, I would probably do it. McStealth
  14. You have an Type S Acclaim,#2, but you need an STC for the Type "S" because it wasn,t certified yet???? Not following you. David ps wish I was you.
  15. Good luck. Let us know how it goes. David
  16. http://www.mooneyresale.com/view.php?ccode=122472628747488&startitem=&startpage=&endpage=&current=&make=&model=&condition= Look at this Ovation with the damage history. I'm sure the price is negotiable but it seems priced pretty low as it is. What are some things to look for here in a pre-buy situation? Thanks McStealth
  17. I heard on the radio news, four times no less in the same day last week, about how congress scolded the auto makers CEO's for flying in their corporate jets, to their meetings with congress. The CEO's then drive to DC in their respective hybrid vehicles as a response for the second round of meeteings. Not sure what is more upsetting? The fact that the CEO's flew the first time and did not drive, or that congress felt it could make an example against corporate and evenually all aviation accept comercial, or that the news makers thought it was actually news. 18. Mooney has 21 to be sold. Five on the production line to maintain certification. Sold one in November. Mcstealth
  19. Scott at Learn2flykerrville.com He is what you are looking for.
  20. Okay, please put that into some perspective/comparision. What does the Meridian do? Acclaim? What is the smallest S/E turboprop out there right now? How does that compare? I know it is pure speculation on our part but that is where it gets fun. McStealth
  21. Okay, what do you make of this when it comes to Mooney? RR wants this powerplant to operate 13fl to 15fl, certified to 22fl. Kind of makes you go "hmmmmmm." McStealth
  22. A newish airpark in the Texas Hill Coutry opened not all that long ago, but before the financial problems. All the lots sold in almost record time. The interest was amazing to me. McStealth
  23. HEY! Where is your hand? :)
  24. I am interested in starting from the ground up a partnership at ERV. I have enough for an 'F' or mabey 'J' but wouldn't mind a good F or J if more money was available. I do have a specific mission of Flying from ERV to Houston and back every third weekend. I will train IFR ASAP. McStealth
  25. I have an inside contact that I haven't exploited. Let me see if I can get some soup. McStealth
