Ovation 310HP up grade-would you do it again?
GeorgePerry replied to L. Trotter's topic in Modern Mooney Discussion
Sure the STC is 5 AMU, but If you need the 3 bladed Prop add on another 12.5 AMU plus the reworked prop governor plus labor. All in if you need everything is +/- 20 AMU -
Battery Kick's On and Offline
GeorgePerry replied to GeorgePerry's topic in Modern Mooney Discussion
Yep that was it...Next time I'll get one from peerless. that's why we post...so others can learn :-) -
Maintenance lesson learned...Went to start the Eagle, flipped on the Master and everything powered up like normal. Then without warning, everything dropped off line and their was a loud clicking noise from behind the panel as the battery kept coming on and then dropping off line. Luckily the Eagle as two batteries and I switched from #2 to # 1 and every thing worked normally. Talked with the guys at Weber Mooney Service Center and they got me in right away. Diagnosed the problem as a bad #2 Battery relay. Overnighted the part from Mooney and the next day it was fixed. The only "bad" but not unexpected news is a relay from Mooney is the better part of 1 AMU. Anyway, if anyone else runs into a battery that jumps on and offline with a loud clicking noise, it's probably the relay.

We did follow up but the pilot did not want to speak on the record. Not much we can do if those involved won't step forward

From AOPA - Here is the latest update. This is very encouraging news and as Mark Baker notes, we've never been closer than we are right now. The Senate Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation has set Nov. 18 as the date to move the Pilot's Bill of Rights 2 (S. 571). Third class medical reform is among the provisions in the legislation designed to help general aviation pilots. http://www.aopa.org/News-and-Video/All-News/2015/November/11/Medical-reform-legislation-set-for-markup Here is a list of Congressmen and Senators who have not signed on. http://www.aopa.org/Advocacy/Legislative-Affairs/Non-CoSponsors-PBR2 Please send them a note or call letting them know this is an important issue!

If you live in Texas - Pilot's Bill of Rights 2

Sorry for not seeing this sooner...Ive been peddling hard on my day job. Here is the latest update. I appreciate the kind words! Glad to help! Keeping GA strong and safe is really important. Lending my voice (and my plane) to the cause is a privilege.

Try the folks at AOPA insurance. http://insurance.aopa.org/

I'll be there. Flying in an M20S

I agree. If you know someone out there with the money and inclination to back a national marketing campaign please have them contact AOPA.

In all of these cases, I think the golden rule applies...Some situations are obvious (don't block the fuel pump) and some vary depending on a host of factors, like how one defines a "wide" pattern. I've always found that when differences arise, simply asking the other person (in a courteous and respectful way) for an accommodation is typically met with agreement.

Question for someone who actually knows the answer...I would like to swap out my old Vacuum driven AI, and replace it with an RCA 2600-3 on my M20S I've heard that the TCDS for the M20S now allows for this? Can anyone confirm that to be true? I'm referencing Note 24 on page 58. TCDS.tiff TCDS.tiff

Fuel selector Hard (nearly impossible) to Turn

Just got my plane back from annual and I have to tip my hat to Weber Mooney Service Center in Lancaster PA. They did a phenomenal job on my plane and were able to fix the fuel selector for just a few hours of labor. They disassembled the fuel selector and found some "gunk" in the mechanism. They cleaned it up, put on some lubricant and reinstalled. Works like a champ! Smoot as butter with a nice "click" as it slips into the left and right detents. I've flown twice since getting it back 10+ Hours. knock on wood everything is working great! -
My friends at the home office sent me this picture today to commemorate my tailwheel endorsement. It's pretty funny so I figured I'd share

I spoke with the mooney factory reps at Osh. The factory owns the STC and will sell to Eagle owners.

I did it in about 4.5 hours, but we flew nearly every day for a week. Short flights with multiple landings. Cram it in and learn fast!

Great project AOPA put together with Redbird. Shows how easy it is to learn to fly and that it doesn't have to take long. Check out these three student's flying adventure! http://www.aopa.org/News-and-Video/One-Week-Ready-to-Solo 1 wk to solo.tiff
