  1. I had a total electrical failure in a friend's T-34. Master relay failed. About 2 minutes after dropping out of a solid cloud layer, after about 1.5 solid IFR. If it had happened 5 minutes to 1.5 hours earlier, it would have been UGLY. FYI, T-34 instruments are all electric.
  2. And EGTs
  3. Where have you been the last 8 months????? They were announced around Oshkosh 2022, and I placed my pre-order. I made final payment a couple of weeks ago and expect them to ship very soon. 12 volt models are already shipping
  4. Piston or turbine. Tube/fabric or Wood or Metal or Composite Common to all would be basic systems training, such as fuel delivery, electrical, etc
  5. This what I was thinking. For pilot certificates we have levels (Private, Commercial, ATP) and Category and Class. So why not A&P sub categories. Like A&P limited to Metal Aircraft and Piston Engines. Or Composite and Turbine, etc.
  6. Try flying from the right seat VFR. Then under the hood. It is not a big deal. Instructors do it all the time.
  7. Mike Busch and George Braly agree.
  8. And what happens if more than one of the aircraft being monitored has some issue/failure?
  9. And how many crashes/deaths along the way? I have worked in and around the computer industry a long time. And complex systems have complex failure modes that are not easily anticipated. And when you have a failure, the fix often causes other failures.
  10. The problem is, in most cases, that is how the FAA reads them.
  11. East Coast is easy, get the plane to KGAI and have Byron ( @jetdriven here in MS) do the pre-buy.
  12. Have you tested this?
  13. I am in NE MD with a M20K 252 upgraded to Encore spec.
  14. A pipe cleaner will keep the bug out of the tank vents And not block them if you forget. I bought a bag of 100 extra long red ones from Amazon.
  15. Did you tell him to join Mooney Space???
  16. My buddy printed one of these, but the rings are slightly small for his GATS jar. it is working on modifying to fit
  17. You are also paying for them to defend any suits.
  18. Use the Blackstone vacuum collector for my cars. But I also use an oil sucked and do not take out the drain plug.
  19. Uuuh, that is exactly what they said, a bit more nicely. "Repair service will continue to be offered while components required for a specific repair remain available."
  20. So the IA would not sign it off because something MIGHT happen in the future? Wow, heck you engine might fall off in the future.
  21. Reducing RPM and MP is old school. Times change.
  22. What made the GTN stolen was the DoA taking it from the shop inventory. If the DoA has an agreement with Garmin to sell their equipment, it was a reasonable offer. Although it did cut the ship out of their markup. I know many years ago a certain flight demonstration team was sponsored by Garmin. At least part of the sponsorship was that each pilot could buy one of each Garmin product at dealer cost to do with what they wanted (explicitly they were allowed to resell at a profit).
  23. The manager stated to the OP that he could and would order the unit directly and pass on the savings on the mark up to the OP. Then he stole the unit from the company inventory. So, while the OP should have questioned this practice, he did not realize that he was receiving a stolen unit. Just that the DoA was screwing his company out of the markup.
  24. I don't recall if any gave specific numbers. And sorry, not sure of where to find the exact posts. Yes, I understand that, but if there is a wide spread problem, find the gain setting that works, or test a range of settings and get them approved.
  25. I have read several reports where a slight adjustment to the gain solves the problem, but not allowed under the STC. I wonder why the STC is not changed to allow a slight gain tweak.
