Fine maybe silver

Depending on what you want out of it, you could email Mapa and ask if you can buy the Training Manual (Worth it’s weight in gold) I was surprised to see so many pilots with thousands of hours attending. Just finished the flight portion and I am flying the plane completely different. They have a list of CFIs on their website from all over the country. Unbeknownst to me it counts for your biannual flight review and ifr currency. Like a mini check ride but better, accelerated stalls, simulated engine out emergency complete with landing, night flying currency, etc. Highly recommended.

Thanks for giving me a ride today from the FBO to the Hilton
-
Hope to see you guys there. Waiting for the weather to clear up.

I was going to say because it was inverted ... newby this was way more original. Will be exciting to have an engine that actually flies the POH numbers.

Greetings anyone going to the MAPA PPP this weekend in Lakeland?

Looking for a sheet metal shop to replace my piano hinge on my baggage door. Any recommended shops? Or is this a AP job? I would like to do it myself however I need some baby sitting and tools for the first time around. Also have a quarter sized hole in my doghouse that needs some love. Thanks

That’s the recommended setting from rajay turbos keep mp at 27 and rpm 2500.

He is turbo normalized.

For me the most economic route was doing a CGR 30C (being installed in the next couple of weeks) for RPM,MP, FP, Oil T, Oil P, Fuel R, Fuel L, and Amps. Along side I have an Insight G2. In my opinion the most cost effective route to reap most benefits is a G3. Its not primary for anything outside the CHT/EGT but if your steam gauges are working, it will give you all the diagnostic data for trouble shooting and display them. The G3 would have stopped me from spending an extra 5 Amu's. Takes little space and will avoid the upgrade the entire panel bug. Depending on your available funds and priorities G3 will provide all information however not being primary.

Next fly in let’s meet.

This was interesting. I was flying over to kobe and Arcadia has the same ctaf. Just listing to the traffic it sounded like Osh fly in. Either the pancakes are fantastic or people must have an itch to get out.

First time I declared an emergency…
MMsuper21 replied to Candy man's topic in Mooney Safety & Accident Discussion
We should not shy away from declaring emergencies (ego will survive), and you have priority in case the situation deteriorates. My generator went the other month, I tried resetting the breaker no luck, but did not have the balls to turn off the ignition. I was close to my airport so came back without event. The lesson was to dry run the procedures, turn off ignition on the ground see what happens. Is my handheld charged, know all the breakers by heart, are my mobile backups easy to reach, where are all the vents, act out emergency checklists, etc I am a new pilot and still remember the procedures in theory and on the trainer but had never actually rehearsed all of them in my plane. We don’t rise to the occasion, we fall back to our training. -
10 Years of Mooney Ownership - How I Got Into Mooneys!
MMsuper21 replied to 201er's topic in General Mooney Talk
Congrats on the 10 years! I got lucky and was persuaded into a Mooney by my father in law. Not knowing what type of reputation these planes have, it’s always funny when folk not familiar with the plane ask how fast she cruises and burns having to repeat 145kts under 10gph. -
Slowly pondering this topic also wouldn’t a Garmin gps 175 with some G5s do the job at the lowest cost?
-
Did you add all those speed mods or did they come with the plane? I was debating on the LASAR speed fairing mods (wing and tail roots, dorsal fin, etc.) not sure if they are really worth it.
-
@201er why is your redline at 200kts? I am crazy enough to fly however I take calculated risks see N231BY. These planes are hand build and you might have a good one, but they are also older than me and my knees are not as they used to be. As an engineer I like to stick to numbers and envelopes. But still jelly of your speeds.
-
lol, I must admit it took me a few flights to figure it out.
-
The M20E has a Vne of 189mph (165kts). I think you will be pushing your luck trying to cruise at 170kts. I think with all the speed mods its possible. I routinely cruise around 150kts+. I will need to take some pics of the ASI it’s based off gps. I have the cowl enclosure and one piece non 201 windshield and possibly some other speed mods I am not aware of. Besides the extra rear leg room the J has higher Vne, Vfe and and Vlo speeds. It like people tuning their cars doubling the hp and not upgrading their brakes.

A bit late but I really enjoy the G2 I like the lean and rich boxes. As for size the egt/cht my impression is it’s the same size when you divide up the real estate on the bigger screens with all the extra data being displayed. Maybe somebody who flew both can chime in. Leaning is really easy even for a noob like me, twist till you see the box appear and than go ROP or LOP and each cylinder has a box with the degrees from peak egt while staying out of the Redbox. I ordered the CGR 30c not installed yet to compliment the G2 and replace the remaining analog gauges. My main goal was cost effectiveness and safety. Hardware was $3800 with all new probes and I am able to do it in steps. The G3 could display all the info I need from CGR but it’s not primary and with the old displays slowly dying (fuel levels, amps, oil p/t) I won’t be grounded once they do. Disclaimer I had an old GEM602, which made the G2 install easy, no fuel flow yet that’s going in when installing the CGR.

Overhead vent upgrade project
MMsuper21 replied to Utah20Gflyer's topic in Vintage Mooneys (pre-J models)
In all seriousness when can I order 2. -
I used to own a high end tint shop. I would never apply permanent window film on plexiglass. The film will eventually bubble and fade, yes even your lifetime warranty ceramic films. In order to shape it on such a curved window you need to apply lots of heat that can either weaken or melt the plexiglass. Plastics release small amounts of gas over time which will lead to bubbles. To remove the adhesive you either use a razor blade or strong degreaser with steel wool, in essence destroying the plexiglass. Cling wrap without adhesive is another story, probably not as clear but will not ruin your windows as long as the installer is capable when cutting the film. In order to remove the film

I went with the Akron I feel Ram is overpriced, I compared in store and it’s the same. For $53 it’s worth a try. I was all over the place too window, center post, but yoke does not obstruct anything in my plane. https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B07V6S557M?psc=1&ref=ppx_pop_mob_b_asin_title I also got an extension to lower it to my preference. https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B01N49P0T1?psc=1&ref=ppx_pop_mob_b_asin_title
